Today, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, represented by the Central Administration for Curriculum Development, organized a workshop in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund and the Roots Foundation to present the final picture of the framework of the concepts of population education and reproductive health.
The workshop was attended by Dr. Akram Hassan, Head of the Central Administration for Curriculum Development, Dr. Hanim Ahmed, Advisor to the Minister of Education for International Cooperation, Dr. Tariq Tawfiq, Deputy Minister of Health for Population Affairs, and Dr. Maha Mowafi, Representative of the United Nations Population Fund.
Dr. Akram Hassan emphasized the interest of the Ministry of Education to include the concepts of population and health, as they are among the important issues that affect the whole society in all its categories, indicating that the Ministry is working to address issues with a new thought based on sustainability, and this was translated by integrating societal concepts and issues into the curricula. As the Ministry of Education addresses a wide segment of society that reaches 25%, and the children of today are the pillar of tomorrow's society, and therefore preserving their health is one of the most important starting points necessary for the future of our country.
He explained that based on the belief of the Ministry of Education represented in the Central Department for Curriculum Development, investing in the health of learners is one of the foundations for the development of education, and it is a major goal of the curriculum development plans, and this requires us to formulate educational, training and health policies aimed at improving the health and economic characteristics of the population in order to become a driving force for development required economic.
Dr. Akram Hassan confirmed that for this purpose, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund, has established concepts of population and reproductive health, integrating them into educational curricula and activities, and setting a framework for population and reproductive health concepts to include them in curricula and educational activities for the preparatory and secondary stages.
