Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, witnessed today the opening activities of the "Education between Digital Transformation and Humanization" conference, which is organized by the Balanced Education Company in partnership and cooperation with Florida Atlantic University (FAU), Microsoft Egypt, and the British University in Egypt.
This came in the presence of Ambassador Nabila Makram, the former Egyptian Minister of Immigration and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the "Fahem" Foundation for Psychological Support, Dr. Hossam Badrawi, Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the "Education First" Foundation, Dr. Salma Al-Bakry, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the "Balanced Education" Company, and Dr. Osama Obeidat, CEO of the Academy. Queen Rania Teacher Training, Dr. Daniel Guerra, Representative of Florida Atlantic University, Dr. Amr El-Masry, Head of Education Sector, Microsoft Egypt, Elizabeth White, Director of the British Council in Egypt, Dr. Jay Daley, Vice-Chancellor of the British University in Egypt, and Dr. Monica Byrne, Executive Director (UCEA), Mahmoud El-Deeb, Executive Director of (Innovera), a group of American university professors, representatives of the University Council for Education Administration (UCEA), a group of leaders in the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, school principals and teachers from Egyptian international private and public schools, and experts in various fields of education.
At the beginning of his speech, Dr. Reda Hegazy welcomed the attendees, expressing his happiness at participating today in the annual conference "Education between Digital Transformation and Humanization" for the second year, which discusses a very important issue, especially after that defining moment that the education community went through at the global level due to the repercussions of the pandemic. corona.
Dr. Reda Hegazy explained that the development of education in Egypt goes through multiple stages, within the framework of the continuous development process, noting that the ministry is working to integrate technology into education, as well as introducing concepts that enhance the student's abilities to produce information, in addition to enhancing life skills, supportive values, and creativity. .
The minister emphasized that the process of introducing technology is a step of development, which will not at the same time dispense with the role of the teacher, but it is integrated into educational programs, in order to reach knowledge-producing learning, in light of the stages of development in the new system, which keep pace with modern trends. He added that the current new generation is a digital generation, and this feature must be invested in the current generation in parallel with the need to pay attention to the humanization of education.
The Minister of Education also affirmed that there is no development of education without upgrading teachers, stressing that the teacher is the strength, and one of the main axes in the educational process, indicating that the Ministry is constantly working to provide them with new skills.
Dr. Reda Hegazy indicated that Egypt is one of the few countries that completed the educational process during the Corona pandemic, as a result of the introduction of technology in education, indicating that it was from the ordeal that the grant graduated as the repercussions of Corona accelerated the steps to integrate technology into education, pointing out that there are 2,500 schools equipped with technological infrastructure. In addition, all secondary school students have tablets.
The minister added that everyone witnessed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected aspects of life in various countries of the world, including education, as more than 75 countries closed the doors of their schools to approximately 400 million learners, hence some educational institutions resorted to alternative education via the Internet, or It is also called "distance education", and the biggest challenge was the rapid transition towards online education. Therefore, the method of education must change, and the vocabulary and outcomes of learning must differ.
Dr. Reda Hegazy pointed out that human wealth is the greatest and greatest treasure of every nation. Therefore, we must all give it priority, attention and full care in order to emerge into society as an active person who is able to give to his country, and to pay attention to education and its development that supports the digital transformation strategy pursued by the state under the generous sponsorship of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, which aims to provide easier and more convenient services for citizens. In light of the tremendous scientific and technological development and progress around the world, explaining that in this context, the Ministry seeks to promote digital transformation in the field of education and work to discover gifted and outstanding students, and provide them with skills that achieve self-development for them, while taking care of them educationally, culturally, and socially. So that they can develop their talents and reach the highest levels of excellence and creativity.
The minister stressed that his complete certainty in the capabilities of the Egyptian teacher will remain constant, because it is the essence and basis for any development of the educational process, and the Ministry of Education and Technical Education will remain keen to develop the skills of the Egyptian teacher because it is the key to the success of any educational process.
The minister concluded his speech by raising a number of questions that must be taken into consideration during the workshops related to the conference, which include the following: What are the learning outcomes needed for education in the future in light of digital transformation and artificial intelligence? What is the consequence of the form of the curricula, its nature, the topics it deals with, and how it is presented? What skills must teachers have to achieve this? (In light of the boom that is taking place now in the form of school administration and in the school follow-up system), and what is the form of the school building in light of the digital transformation? (Is it a fixed, variable, or multi-storey building?) What are the requirements in light of digitization? What is the form of the school day? Finally, what is the format of student evaluation? (Based on personal merits and skills).
The Minister thanked all those in charge of organizing the conference, stressing that the country deserves more effort from us, hoping that all discussions will bear fruit in reaching recommendations that support the development of the educational process in Egypt.
During the conference, Dr. Reda Hegazy witnessed the signing of several cooperation protocols between the “Balanced Education” company and the Queen Rania Academy for Teacher Training, as well as between the “Balanced Education” company and the El Sewedy Foundation, as well as between the “Education First” institution and the Queen Rania Academy for Teacher Training. In addition to signing a protocol between the “Education First” Foundation and the “Fahem” Foundation.
It is worth noting that the conference aims to create a space in which participants from all over the world meet to engage in a dialogue on the balance between the use of technology and the need for personal social interaction in the upbringing and education of children, through conference sessions and workshops.
