Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received a delegation from the Federation of Egyptian Industries and the "Ibda" company for project development. To discuss enhancing aspects of cooperation in projects to develop technical education schools.
At the outset of the meeting, the minister welcomed the attendees, appreciating the role of the industrial partner, as a key factor in advancing technical education, pointing out that technical education is one of the most important main pillars in the quality and speed of productivity and its promotion in order to achieve sustainable economic development.
Dr. Reda Hegazy stressed the role of the Federation of Industries and the “Ibdaa” company for project development, as actors in supporting efforts to develop technical education schools, pointing to the importance of institutional cooperation and coordination to ensure sustainability and the production of cadres at a high level of professionalism and technical expertise.
The minister also stressed that the state is committed to encouraging and developing technical and technical education and vocational training, and expanding all its types in accordance with international quality standards, and commensurate with the needs of the labor market. The ministry is cooperating in implementing the development strategy with three major international development partners: Germany, USAID and the Union. He pointed out that the schools of applied technology apply international quality standards in partnership with the private sector, and the total number is currently 52 schools.
For his part, Eng. Mohamed Zaki El Sewedy, Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, stressed the importance of the technical staff, which is a key element in the various economic activities in the country, including the industrial sector, referring to the experience of applied technology schools, which provide graduates who are educated and trained at the highest level and according to the industrial and professional specializations required within. labor market, in addition to obtaining certificates accredited by international bodies.
The head of the Federation of Industries praised the quick response by the Ministry of Education in approving the curricula that are taught in applied technology schools, which are witnessing a large number of students to enroll in them, and come with the participation of investors and industrial partners, and the fruitful cooperation between the Federation of Industries and the National Initiative for the Development of Egyptian Industry “Ibdaa”. And the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.
For his part, Eng. Abdul Rahman Zawbaa, Head of the Training, Research and Development Sector at "Ibda" Company for Project Development, reviewed the executive steps of the project to develop the technical education system at the level of applied technology schools and vocational training centers, through the development and design of training and qualification programs to develop students' skills according to a study. labor market needs, in addition to establishing a center for marketing and employment.
He also referred to the need to develop and strengthen the capacities of teachers and workers within each school of applied technology, while ensuring the application of quality standards and access to international accreditation for the school, as well as designing an electronic platform for the governance of the educational and administrative process of the project, stressing that the project seeks to integrate efforts in order to implement the state plan. To develop technical and technical education to achieve economic development and reach Egypt's vision 2030.
While Dr. Mohamed Megahed, Deputy Minister for Technical Education, reviewed the axes of the technical education strategy based on improving the quality of technical education, transforming school curricula into curricula based on the methodology of competencies and digitizing content, improving teachers’ skills through training and qualification, and the participation of business owners in the development of technical education, in addition to Improving the stereotypical mental image of technical education.
Dr. Muhammad Mujahid indicated that 29 new programs and curricula have been developed to respond to the needs of the labor market, such as (information and communication technology - artificial intelligence - jewelery systems technology - retail trade - marketing and electronic commerce - customer service - date palm cultivation technician - bio-agriculture technician Arts technology.
Dr. Mujahid said that the rate of developing curricula based on the professional competencies methodology is 75%, and the percentage of schools in which the professional competencies methodology is applied is 65%, and it is expected that the curriculum development and application in schools will be completed by 100% by 2024.
For his part, Dr. Amr Basila explained that the ministry has developed programs and curricula for technical education, pointing out that the schools of applied technology include all economic sectors, including industrial, agricultural, commercial and hotel education, in addition to the development of marketing centers for the labor market, pointing out that the ministry has been working on them since 2007. In addition to the existence of units to facilitate the transition to the labor market, and there is a unit within the applied schools with an employment rate of up to 70%, in addition to the commitment to obtaining quality from the International Accreditation Authority for the export of labor with the participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the German side.
