Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated in the high-level ministerial meeting on the expanded national consultations on preparing the strategic framework for partnership with the United Nations for sustainable development for the period from 2023-2027, within the framework of continuous consultations to set development cooperation priorities. And consolidating the bonds of fruitful and constructive cooperation, which is being prepared through the Ministry of International Cooperation, on behalf of the Egyptian government, in partnership with the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt.
Within the framework of the conclusion of the stages of the national consultations, Dr. Tarek Shawky reviewed the results and outputs of the various stages of the consultations, and how to integrate all the priorities and visions of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education within the draft of the new strategic framework for cooperation with the United Nations for sustainable development.
Dr. Tariq Shawky thanked Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, for the effort, noting that the workshops held to prepare the strategic framework emphasized ensuring justice in education among all students, and the importance of human capital, which is a major priority, as all the fruits of education depend On what we can achieve for our children within the educational system, explaining that we have 25 million students, which is equivalent to a quarter of the population within the pre-university education system, and they will lead Egypt in the coming years.
He also stressed the need to pay attention to human capital alongside human capital, in addition to quality and availability, and linking technical education to the labor market, while promoting a culture of learning and innovation, pointing to the need to pay attention to this issue from a media and educational perspective, as we need to change the societal view of education to be based on accreditation, not skills. and results.
The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Supply, Internal Trade, Water Resources, Irrigation, Tourism, Antiquities, Local Development, Youth and Sports, the President of the National Council for Human Rights and the President of the National Council for Women.
It is worth noting that the road map was launched in May 2021 and the expanded national consultations and in-depth technical workshops resulted in many important visions regarding areas of cooperation with the United Nations. Joint work to determine strategic priorities, stages of joint national coordination in order to monitor and build a matrix of strategic and sectoral priorities for the state, and in-depth technical workshops, which monitored the most important observations on the initial general framework of the theory of change and the results framework developed through the United Nations, according to the sectoral and strategic priorities of the Egyptian state.
