The Minister of Education reviews the most important aspects of the reform adopted by the Egyptian state in the pre-university education
Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated in the first working session of the 14th Conference of Arab Ministers of Education, organized by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the State of Qatar and the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, during the period from January 5 to 7, 2025.
Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, delivered a speech in which he expressed his happiness to participate in the conference, stressing that the Egyptian Ministry of Education is seriously seeking to ensure the availability of distinguished education for all, by addressing various challenges with radical and realistic solutions, and adopting policies aimed at integrating all parties to the system regardless of their social and economic backgrounds, reducing densities within classrooms and adhering to lifelong education.
Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif reviewed the most important aspects of the reform in the pre-university education sector adopted by the Egyptian state, with a focus on comprehensive education and teacher empowerment, noting that the Egyptian Ministry of Education and Technical Education seeks, through its strategic plan (2024-2029), to promote equality and inclusion, develop governance and management, and improve the quality of teaching and learning. This plan also includes a number of programs, projects, and activities based on a clear vision for reforming the pre-university education sector, based on three strategic axes: (comprehensive and equitable access to education for all groups, quality and excellence in education according to global competitive standards, and sustainability and lifelong learning).
The Minister also reviewed the first axis, noting that it is closely related to the topic of this session, as it aims to make education available to all, and achieve justice in providing educational opportunities in remote and deprived areas, and for people with special needs, with the aim of strengthening policies and practices aimed at eliminating discrimination in education, and removing barriers to the integration of all students.
The Minister touched on the most important efforts of the Egyptian state in the field of supporting and empowering teachers, stressing that teachers are the cornerstone, the decisive and differentiating element within any educational system, so the Egyptian state places the interest in teachers, and improving their professional, economic and social conditions, at the top of its priorities, as it adopted a comprehensive vision to build an integrated educational system, based on qualified teachers capable of creating generations, and this vision is embodied in activating an accurate and transparent mechanism; to select the best competencies to work in the education sector; through strict tests that measure their competencies in various aspects.
The Minister pointed out the close and continuous cooperation of the Egyptian Ministry of Education and Technical Education with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, colleges of education and relevant state institutions; with the aim of preparing a distinguished generation of teachers, capable of applying modern teaching methods effectively and competently, and improving the quality of teaching and learning processes, which is directly reflected in student learning outcomes; which represents the ultimate goal of any educational reform.
He explained that this comprehensive vision confirms the Egyptian state's commitment to building a strong educational system, based on qualified teachers, and its goal is to build an aware and educated generation, capable of contributing to building the future.
At the end of his speech, the Minister expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the Director General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization, and Her Excellency the Minister of Education and Higher Education of the sisterly State of Qatar, President of the Fourteenth Session of the Conference of Arab Ministers of Education, for their sincere efforts in organizing this huge Arab event. He also expressed his sincere thanks and great appreciation to the sisterly State of Qatar - Emir, government and people - for the warm reception and generous hospitality, looking forward to achieving more (Arab-Arab) cooperation in the education sector.
