The exams for the first round of the general secondary school certificate of completion for the current academic year 2023/2024 began this morning. During the first period, high school students in both its literary and scientific divisions took the exam in religious education with a total number of (708,141) thousand male and female students in front of (1,986) examination committees. At the republic level, in the second period, students took the exam in the national education subject with a number of (711,252) male and female students.

A number of (1,639) male/female students took the exam for the first round of the Schools of Excellence in Science and Technology, the religious education subject for the first period, and the national education exam for the second period, while a number of (255) male/female students from the schools for the blind took the religious education subject.

Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education and Head of the General Secondary Examinations, was keen to follow up on the first round of high school exams through the Ministry’s central operations room, where he was assured of the progress of the examination process in all governorates.

Before the start of the exam, the Minister was keen to communicate with all directors of educational directorates present in the local operating rooms, and he was also reassured of the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Interior. To secure the headquarters of traffic committees in all governorates.

Professor Abdul Raouf Abdul Rahman, who supervises the work of the system and monitoring committees and the management committees, also confirmed that all stages of work on the high school exams are fully secured, starting with printing the questions, and moving them to the exam booklet distribution centers, then the exam conduct committees, and the system and monitoring committees.

The exam atmosphere during the first day went well and orderly, without any problems occurring that might disturb the exam process. Before the start of the exam, the central operations room checked that the question papers had reached all the exam committees in the governorates. The room’s work team also followed up on the progress of the exam in all governorates. .

Members of the anti-electronic fraud team in the Central Operations Room were also able to monitor one case of cheating, as a student in the Babella committee in Kafr El-Sheikh was arrested, and one of the questions for the religious education exam was published on social media sites.

The Ministry's main operations room also received a report stating the death of a student in a committee in Hadayek al-Qubba in Cairo while taking the religious education exam, as a result of a severe drop in blood circulation.

Regarding the national education exam, two cases were caught using two mobile phones, and part of the exam questions was published, as follows: A student was caught in a committee in Kafr al-Dawwar in Beheira, and a student was caught in a committee in Baba in Beni Suef. The phones used were seized, and measures were taken. The necessary legal measures regarding these aforementioned students, and the implementation of Ministerial Resolution No. (34) of 2018 regarding regulating cases of exam cancellation and deprivation, and Law No. (205) of 2020 regarding combating acts of violation of exams.

The Ministry of Education and Technical Education stresses that students should not use any of the various cheating methods, stressing that it will confront any cheating attempts and take legal measures regarding any violations that occur in the exams.

It is worth noting that high school students, both literary and scientific, are scheduled to take the first round exam on Wednesday, 6/12, 2024, in the subjects of economics and statistics, while students from schools for the blind will take the national education exam.
