The Minister of Education honors an innovative student in technical education for designing and implementing a solar cooker)

Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, honored the student Youssef Abdel Maqsoud Muhammad, in the fourth grade, specializing in solar energy installation and maintenance at the Advanced Technical School for Maintenance Technology in Nasr City, who designed and implemented a solar cooker, under the sponsorship and support of the Ministry’s Electrical Energy Efficiency Unit. It depends on converting solar energy into thermal energy.

The honor comes within the framework of Dr. Reda Hegazy’s keenness to pay attention to brilliant and innovative students, support them, and invest in their talents and motivate them, in order to prepare a generation capable of keeping pace with technological development and scientific research in line with international standards.

During the meeting, the student reviewed the design, praising the support of the Ministry of Education and the sponsorship of the Electrical Energy Efficiency Unit in the Ministry for his project, which depends on concentrating sunlight, converting light energy into thermal energy, and trapping thermal energy, explaining that this model was implemented using simple and inexpensive tools that It produces a temperature of up to 95 degrees Celsius, which is used in cooking.

The student also reviewed the design features, including the absence of greenhouse gas emissions that pollute the environment, in addition to the fact that the solar cooker was implemented using simple components that are easy to disassemble and install, are inexpensive and can be implemented from recycling components.

Dr. Reda Hegazy confirmed the appreciation of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education for the gifted and their care, praising the design implemented by the student and his successful experience that is applicable in practice and preserving the environment, directing that all aspects of care be provided to the student, support and follow-up of his project in cooperation with the competent authorities in this field.

Dr. Reda Hegazy had directed that the student’s innovation be evaluated and the extent of its implementability and feasibility determined by a committee formed by specialists from the electricity sector and the Electrical Energy Efficiency Unit at the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.

This came in the presence of Dr. Muhammad Musa Amara, Head of the Central Administration of Technical Education Schools and Technical Supervisor of the Electrical Energy Efficiency Unit in the Ministry, and Dr. Engineer Jihan Abdel Aziz Al-Sayyid, Director of the Electrical Energy Efficiency Unit in the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.

It is worth noting that the Electrical Energy Efficiency Unit at the Ministry of Education and Technical Education contributes to training students on the competencies required in the labor market in the field of new and renewable energy, and preparing, implementing and developing programs to build the capabilities of workers within the Ministry, and anticipating and monitoring rates of development in the demand for electrical energy within the Ministry. He developed a map of opportunities to improve energy efficiency, and held awareness programs for students, who numbered (800,000) and teachers, who numbered (60,000) to spread the culture of rationalizing electricity consumption, preserving the environment, and learning about the goals of sustainable development and the most important national projects undertaken by it. The state, in addition to the unit’s installation of solar energy stations on the roofs of some school buildings (solar cell systems project), in addition to the unit’s supervision of the preparation of green transformation competencies in the curricula of various technical education programs to provide them to technical education students according to the needs of the labor market.
