 International Day of People with Special Needs Efforts of the Ministry of Education in the field of educational integration in Egyptian schools within the framework of the education system (2.0))

The Ministry of Education and Technical Education cares for people with special needs, in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.
In line with Egypt’s 2030 vision to provide high quality education and training for all without discrimination, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education seeks to change society’s view of our children with special abilities; and transforming them into a productive and influential force in society.
The Ministry is also working to improve educational opportunities for children with mild disabilities and help them adapt to society by integrating them in schools and improving the quality of education provided to them.
In this context, the Ministry has made outstanding efforts to achieve educational integration in schools through the following axes:
The first axis: Increasing the number of students with special needs in the integration schools
- The number of integrated students increased to reach (108224) male and female students distributed among (19005) schools nationwide for the year 2020/2021, compared to (17229) male and female students for the year 2016/2017.
- Ministerial Resolution No. 252 of 2017, which states that all schools are inclusive, in order to facilitate our children with disabilities and their parents.
Theme two: sustainable development for teachers
- The Ministry has held specialized and qualitative training for more than (75) thousand teachers, on the methods of the integration system and dealing with the integrated students, and preparations are underway to train (100) thousand teachers.
The third axis: the development of curricula for people with special needs
The curricula were developed in cooperation with the general directors of curriculum development and the Curriculum Development Center, in addition to the preparation of a document for standards for special education curricula, and their harmonization for students of integration in light of the new education system 2.0.
Fourth Axis: Equipping and developing schools
Equipping 500 learning resource rooms.
Providing technological support to (300) integrating schools in a number of governorates.
- Preparation of (30) resource rooms and provision of technology support for (1300) integrating schools is underway.
The fifth axis: cooperation with development partners
Signing protocols with a number of ministries, the most prestigious Egyptian universities and civil society organizations.
- Partnerships with foreign and local organizations to provide technological support to integrating schools and to qualify educational cadres.
Sixth Axis: Activities Axis
- Awareness meetings were held to spread the culture of inclusion in all governorates, targeting (10) thousand teachers, specialists and school principals.
The Ministry annually celebrates the International Day of Persons with Special Needs, which falls on December 3 of each year.
The activities are held annually at the local, regional and public levels, and are represented in various football competitions for the deaf, intellectual, integration and goal ball for the blind. Finally, a bicycle marathon for the love of Egypt was held in the tourist walkway in Port Said to support the country’s tourism activities through students of schools of intellectual education and integration.
- And for the first time, double and multi-disability classes were held in Egypt, totaling 11 classes, which began to operate since the President declared 2018 a year for people with disabilities. The Tenth of Ramadan Center for the Rehabilitation of People with Special Needs has been supported by many specialists with master’s and doctoral holders in cooperation with the Faculty of People’s Sciences Disability to receive 500 cases per day for free to provide them with support.
- Holding training for more than 5,400 teachers, principals and specialists to train them to deal with integrated students.
