The Minister of Education meets his Jordanian counterpart to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of education
Dr. Reda Hijazi, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met today, Tuesday, with Dr. Azmi Mahmoud Governorate, Minister of Education and Higher Education in the State of Jordan. To discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in developing the educational system, on the sidelines of the "Global Education Forum 2023" held in London from 7 to 10 May.
Dr. Reda Hegazy expressed his happiness with this meeting, stressing the depth of relations between the two brotherly countries and the importance of enhancing the exchange of experiences in the field of education development.
Dr. Reda Hegazy reviewed the ministry's efforts in developing the educational system, as he emphasized that the education development plan is an approach adopted by the entire country. To get acquainted with the effort exerted in developing the educational process.
Dr. Reda Hegazy also reviewed the Ministry's efforts in a number of axes to develop education in Egypt, noting that the Ministry is working to develop educational curricula in accordance with the new education system in a way that achieves the desired learning outcomes, in accordance with international standards, and in a way that contributes to building the Egyptian character, and is consistent with the strategy of State for sustainable development 2030.
The minister also indicated that, based on the state's tendency towards digital transformation in all fields, the ministry has tended to introduce digital transformation in education, so that the student becomes more inclined to learn and innovate, explaining that the ministry has taken steps to integrate technology into the educational program, indicating that this step It helps the student to think critically and manage knowledge, and obtain it from multiple sources in light of the digital transformation and the multiplicity of educational sources such as digital platforms and tablets.
The minister also touched on the ministry's efforts to develop the examination system, including providing question banks that measure real learning outcomes and different levels of knowledge, such as understanding, application, analysis, composition, evaluation, problem-solving and creativity.
Dr. Reda Hegazy affirmed that the Ministry believes that there is no development of education without upgrading and developing the teacher professionally. The Ministry's vision for the future is represented in the presence and selection of teachers with professional skills, excellent knowledge, and sound professional values and behaviors, as well as their ability to continuously develop their skills so that they can keep pace with the teaching methods. Various and modern learning related to digital transformation, technology and other scientific and educational tools that enable them to build the child’s personality and prepare him to deal with life problems and qualify him for the labor market.
The minister pointed out that the selection and appointment of teachers in Egypt goes through multiple tests and trainings to ensure that they possess the educational, technological and cultural skills, stressing the important role of the Professional Academy for Teachers in the sustainable professional development and advancement of teachers, which is directly reflected in the advancement of the educational level of students and the educational system of the state.
And in light of caring for outstanding and gifted students, Dr. Reda Hegazy affirmed that the ministry is interested in discovering and nurturing gifted people and refining their skills in all scientific, sports, artistic and cultural fields, and the ministry also seeks to increase the number of schools for outstanding students of science and technology STEM at the level of the Republic, explaining that these schools are characterized by teaching advanced subjects in science, technology, and mathematics, and its curricula are based on the integration of various subjects, designing learning outcomes that are in line with national and international standards, in addition to preparing graduates capable of logical thinking, problem-solving, innovation, creativity, initiative, communication, and teamwork.
The minister also touched on the ministry's efforts to confront the phenomenon of dropping out of education, which includes working on the axis of accessibility as well as reducing dropouts to bridge the sources of illiteracy and giving an opportunity for students who have dropped out of education to join the education train through community education schools. The ministry is also making great efforts to deliver educational service in places. Which suffers from a severe shortage in the numbers of schools and classes, by providing community education schools in remote areas and second chance schools to accommodate dropouts.
During the meeting, Dr. Reda Hegazy touched on the ministry's strategy to develop technical education and vocational training, stressing that the technical education system aims to shift towards technical education that meets the needs of the labor market with the best international quality standards, through a sustainable approach, based on five axes; It is improving the quality of technical education, transforming school curricula into curricula based on the methodology of competencies, improving teachers' skills through training and qualification, and the participation of business owners in the development of technical education, as well as changing the stereotype of technical education.
Dr. Reda Hegazy said: “Applied Technology Schools are an important model that embodies the success of that system in cooperation with business institutions and the private sector as an active participant in the management and operation of technical schools in new disciplines based on the methodology of competencies with the highest quality standards, and through distinguished teachers and competencies of experienced graduates. Technical cadres that meet the needs of the local, regional and international labor markets, and are considered one of the most important models that change the mental image of technical education.
For his part, Dr. Azmy reviewed ways to develop the education system in Jordan, praising the efforts of the Egyptian Ministry of Education to improve the education system, and expressed the importance of enhancing cooperation with the Egyptian side and exchanging experiences in this field.
