Minister of Education Meets with Representatives of Major Italian Technical Academies
As part of efforts to strengthen the Egyptian-Italian partnership in technical education, Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met today with representatives of major Italian technical academies and institutes. This meeting was held in preparation for the signing of several cooperation protocols tomorrow with Italy, in partnership with a number of Egyptian ministries, agencies, and major companies, to launch 89 new applied technology schools across various specializations.
During the meeting, Mr. Abdel Latif expressed his deep appreciation for the Egyptian-Italian relations and Italy's ongoing support for the development of technical education. He emphasized that Egypt prioritizes this sector given the evolving labor market, which demands advanced skills and the ability to keep pace with modern technology.
Minister Abdel Latif affirmed that the Egyptian-Italian partnership serves as a model for international cooperation. He noted that the signing of the cooperation protocols tomorrow to launch the 89 new applied technology schools, in collaboration with Italy, reflects the strong mutual trust and the commitment of both countries to developing highly qualified Egyptian technical personnel according to international standards.
The Minister stated that this partnership represents a historic step in developing technical education in Egypt, emphasizing that this cooperation focuses on quality assurance to improve the quality of graduates and the level of technical skills to meet global standards and the needs of the local and international labor market for new professions and specializations.
During the meeting, the Minister also confirmed that the Ministry is working on integrating programming and artificial intelligence into technical education. He explained that more than 850,000 students are currently studying these skills in secondary school within the general education system, adding that the Ministry aims to introduce this subject in technical education schools during the next academic year in cooperation with the Japanese side.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed several areas of cooperation and objectives for the coming period following the signing of cooperation protocols, which will broaden the scope of cooperation to support technical education. Plans for exchanging expertise and training Egyptian personnel were also discussed, which will support the technical education system in Egypt.
