The Minister of Education and Technical Education announces the details and mechanism of conducting the first semester exams and the mechanism for resuming studies in the second semester

Tariq Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, held a press conference today, to announce the details and mechanism of conducting the first semester exams, as well as the mechanism for resuming studies in the second semester, in light of the directions of the President of the Republic and the decisions of the Supreme Committee for the Management of the Emerging Coronavirus Crisis and an appreciation of the situation in The repercussions of the Corona pandemic continued.
Dr. Tariq Shawky, Minister of Education, said that the ministry has succeeded in completing the academic year 2019-2020 amid extremely difficult circumstances that may be more severe than the current circumstances, noting that despite all attempts to complete the school year in 2019-2020, the "Corona generation" of Students lost significant educational content and the assessment lacked the desired accuracy due to the pandemic conditions, which cut off 7 weeks from the last academic year.
He explained that the ministry has made tremendous efforts to develop pre-university education since 2017 despite major challenges, pointing out that failure to complete a fair assessment this year is equivalent to the collapse of Egyptian education as well as development plans and the credibility of the Egyptian education system.
He continued: "There are no examinations for grades from kindergarten to the third primary in the new education system, and that the ministry has designed a set of innovative solutions to evaluate students in the transportation years (from the fourth primary to the second intermediate school) as well as (first and second secondary) as little as possible. Presence in the school in the midst of social distancing and adherence to precautionary controls, and the Ministry of Health has approved these solutions for years of transfer.
Dr. Tariq Shawqi, Minister of Education and Technical Education, announced a number of decisions, as follows:
- Amending the timetables for the current academic year 2020/2021, completing the academic year and starting the first semester exams on Saturday, February 27, 2021, with the aim of giving students sufficient opportunity to review the curricula of the first term and resume studies on March 10.
- As for the first semester examination for grades from the fourth primary to the second intermediate school .. Only one exam will be held in February for all subjects, and attendance for the exam will be only one day, and only students of the exam year will attend school.
- Grades 1 and 2 secondary .. For the first semester exams, they will be in February and electronic in school committees, and a monthly electronic test will be held (March, April and May).
The preparatory certificate exams will be in June and will be written in accordance with the traditional schedule.
The Minister of Education also issued a number of decisions as follows:
Decision 1: The first term examinations will be held from February 27 to March 9, 2021, while the preparatory and secondary certificate examinations will be held at the end of the year.
Decision 2: Examinations for non-additive subjects in addition to ID materials for international schools will be conducted at the end of the year.
Decision 3: The return of attendance without absence (optional) [according to schedules as in the first term], starting from Wednesday, March 10, 2021, with the restart of the education groups in schools. Voluntary absence requires official approval of the guardian in the educational administration.
Decision 4: The guardian has the right to choose to repeat the school year by submitting an official request to the educational administration.
Resolution 5 - A: Paper exams collected at the end of each month in the school from March to May for the fourth primary grades until the second intermediate school as an alternative to the second term exams.
Resolution 5 - b: As well as electronic examinations (from home) at the end of each month from March to May for the first and second secondary grades as an alternative to the second term exams.
Resolution 6: An experimental electronic exam for the third year of secondary school next April from home.
Resolution 7: Home students, those who fail, and the high school division will be examined electronically with the new assessment system.
Resolution 8: Examinations for our children abroad and technical education will be announced before the end of next week.
Decision 9: Electronic high school examinations, as was previously announced for all students in monitoring school committees, according to a schedule of various attempts, which will be announced before the end of February.
Resolution 10: The EST exam is the only qualification for American diploma students to coordinate Egyptian universities since this date (but not retroactively).
Resolution 11: The regulatory controls related to matches or super-matches will be issued through the various evaluation systems before the end of the current month.
Dr. Tariq Shawqi, Minister of Education and Technical Education, confirmed that the ministry possesses a huge amount of learning resources for all classes and for those who are able to access the Internet or who cannot do so, indicating to the ministry, it will not be able to certify the success of students from any class to the higher grade without Fair evaluation in monitoring committees.
At the end of the conference, Dr. Tarek Shawky confirmed that in light of completing the school year and helping students in distance learning, the Ministry launched the "Egyptian Education Platform" https://eduhub.moe.gov.eg
