Today, Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, signed a joint cooperation protocol with Engineer Medhat Al-Suwaidi; To establish Medhat Al-Suwaidi School of Applied Technology in the Tenth of Ramadan in Sharkia Governorate, which is the first applied technology school specialized in the field of printing.
Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education began his speech by welcoming the attendees, pointing to the efforts made by the Ministry to develop technical education and raise its quality in accordance with Egypt’s Vision 2030, by linking graduates’ skills with the requirements of the labor market, stressing that work is already being done to achieve this goal. Through the system of applied technology schools, which is based on cooperation with industrial partners; In order to graduate fully qualified and trained students who are able to meet the needs of the labor market.
The minister explained that with regard to the rest of the goals of Vision 2030 in the field of technical education, among which are that technical education be attractive and desirable by everyone, and that it becomes the first choice for students, improve the competitiveness of its graduates, and improve Egypt's position in global indicators for it, noting that Egypt has jumped 48 places. In the Technical Education and Technical Skills Index according to the Global Skill Competitiveness Index 2021, issued by INSEAD University in France since 2013.
Dr. Muhammad Mujahid, Deputy Minister of Education for Technical Education Affairs, expressed his happiness with the inclusion of new specializations applied for the first time in applied technology schools, such as printing technology specialization, printing quality preparation and output technology, maintenance technology and support services for printing, design technology, montage and sales marketing, stressing the necessity of The balance between the theoretical and practical aspects that are applied in the schools of applied technology, through the students studying the cultural and artistic subjects at the school, and obtaining practical training on what has been studied in the workshops, factories and companies of the industrial partners.
Mujahid explained that the skills and competitiveness of graduates of applied technology schools enable them to join the labor market upon their graduation, and this has already been done with students of Al-Araby School for Applied Technology, Imam Muhammad Metwally Al-Shaarawy School for Applied Technology, and School of Applied Technology for Mechatronics who graduated the previous academic year 2020/ 2021.
In a related context, Dr. Amr Basileh, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education, and Director of the Operation and Management Unit for Applied Technology Schools, said that with the inclusion of Medhat Al-Suwaidi School of Applied Technology, the number of applied technology schools will be 28 schools distributed over 10 different governorates, and the opening of more schools will be announced. Applied Technology Coming Soon; To provide the opportunity for the largest number of students to join the applied technology schools system, which is currently an essential element for the development of technical education.
Basileh pointed out that the ministry is working hard to open new schools and include more specializations in line with the needs of the labor market in parallel with maintaining the quality of the educational process in it, in order to preserve the interest of our students.
For his part, Engineer Medhat Al-Suwaidi, Chairman of the Medhat Al-Suwaidi Printing House, expressed his happiness at signing this protocol with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education to establish the Medhat Al-Suwaidi School for Applied Technology, pointing out that the labor market is in great need of trained and qualified technical labor on the latest technological methods in the field of technology. Printing, especially after the development of printing sciences and their entry into most areas of life.
He added that Medhat Al Suwaidi Printing House is keen to seize all possible opportunities to play its national role and fulfill its responsibilities towards society, by harnessing all technological capabilities, financial and human resources; To contribute to providing an added value to the Egyptian society.
