The Minister of Education meets the Ambassador of Japan in Cairo to discuss aspects of cooperation in the field of education
Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received Noki Masaki, the Japanese Ambassador to Cairo and his accompanying delegation; To discuss aspects of joint cooperation in the field of education.
Dr. Tarek Shawky stressed the depth of the historical relations between the two countries, especially in the field of education, expressing his appreciation to the Japanese side for its effective contribution to the Egyptian-Japanese schools project through their distinguished experiences in tokatsu activities.
The minister indicated that the President of the Republic attaches great importance to the development of the educational system, and directed an increase in the number of Egyptian-Japanese schools, which now number (48) schools in various governorates of Egypt, and the ministry aims to increase the number of Egyptian-Japanese schools to reach (100) schools, stressing the provision of the necessary support for the project; to ensure its success.
He pointed out that the Egyptian-Japanese schools have three main advantages; Is that the essence of Japanese education lies in the integrated personality of the child, which is also consistent with the goal of the new educational program 2.0, which is concerned with the development of students' academic abilities and the development of morals in order to raise generations that abide by rules and laws, respect the feelings of others, and the group learning formula develops communication skills with others. The key to the success of this project is the teacher.
For his part, the Japanese ambassador praised the cooperation with the Egyptian side, expressing his happiness with this project, which receives attention and support from both sides, stressing the importance of concerted efforts and joint work. To develop the project for the better in line with the Egyptian environment, pointing to the continuation of cooperation under the supervision of JICA experts in the Ministry to work on implementing a model that simulates the model of schools in Japan.
The ambassador stressed that during his visit to more than one of the Egyptian-Japanese schools, he noticed the tangible progress of this wonderful model of cooperation between the two countries. Pointing out that these schools aim to achieve both education and education for students, and rely on special Japanese activities "Tokatsu", which aim to develop students' abilities in a comprehensive and integrated manner in the three main areas: cognitive development for students (academic development), and non-cognitive development (development of students' knowledge). Pupils’ mentality, life habits, and daily practices), and physical development (development of pupils’ physical strength and health).
The meeting dealt with discussing the activation of the tokatsu component in the 2.0 curricula, and a review of the plan to organize workshops for all teachers responsible for implementing the tokatsu activity in schools, in addition to the resumption of the dispatch of Egyptian teachers to Japan with the improvement of the environmental situation imposed by the emerging corona virus pandemic.
The meeting was attended by the Ministry of Education, Nevin Hammouda, the minister's advisor for strategic relations and supervisor of the Japanese education system, and from the Japanese side Omura Yoshifumi, head of the JICA office in Egypt, and Miyamoto Sukago, economic advisor to the Japanese embassy.
