The Minister of Education meets the Minister of Communications to discuss the "Ashbal Egypt Digital" initiative for school students
Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received today Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology; To discuss the implementation of the "Digital Cubs of Egypt" initiative, which targets students in pre-university education.
Dr. Tarek Shawky stressed that the new systems in education are based on new skills that keep pace with technological developments within the framework of Egypt’s vision for sustainable development 2030, noting that the ministry has added information and communication technology for students of the fourth grade of primary school for the academic year 2021/2022, which aims to develop technological culture among Students and create a conscious generation that is aware of current developments, develops critical thinking, as well as understands the technological skills students need to succeed in their daily lives.
Dr. Amr Talaat expressed his appreciation for the cooperation between the two ministries to enhance efforts to develop the educational system through the use of information technology tools.
The Minister of Communications stressed that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, directed the building of specialized competencies from the new generations and their refinement with integrated technical, scientific, linguistic and personal skills, in a way that contributes to bridging professional gaps and facing challenges related to the scarcity of digital competencies. Noting that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology launched the "Builders of Egypt Digital Initiative" in September 2020, and the "Ashbal Egypt Digital" initiative comes within the same framework with its adaptation to suit pre-university education students in the age group from 12 to 17 years old.
During the meeting, the details of the "Digital Cubs of Egypt" initiative were reviewed, which aims to prepare a distinguished generation of young people capable of discovering new horizons in the field of information and communication technology in order for the student to grow up in line with the future and qualified for the digital Egyptian society. The initiative also aims to hone students' life skills such as entrepreneurship. Building work teams and managing projects, in addition to building the Egyptian character and enhancing belonging through an educational environment that makes it capable of innovation and creativity.
The initiative includes all types of schools in all governorates of the Republic and targets 3000 male and female students each year, and its implementation begins in September 2022 after conducting tests and interviews for those who have the ability to deal with computers and who excel in mathematics, science and English language.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Reda Hegazy, Deputy Minister of Education for Teachers' Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Daher, Deputy Minister of Education for Technological Development, and Dr. Hoda Baraka, Advisor to the Minister of Communications for Technological Skills Development.
