Minister of Education receives Greek Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and Greek Ambassador to Egypt
Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received today Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports in Greece, Mr. Nikolaos Papageorgiou, Greek Ambassador to Egypt, and their accompanying delegation; to discuss enhancing future prospects for cooperation in the field of developing pre-university education.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif Ali stressed the depth of the historical and strategic friendship relations between Egypt and Greece, as well as the strong will of the two countries to strengthen these relations in a way that serves the interests of their peoples.
The Minister of Education stressed the importance of digital learning and artificial intelligence in the field of education, pointing to their vital role in honing students' skills to keep pace with the requirements of the twenty-first century, explaining that providing schools with digital technology, integrating artificial intelligence into classrooms, and developing assessment methods is an essential element in the ministry's development plan.
Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif pointed out that the ministry is working on designing educational platforms linked to artificial intelligence, to meet the future needs of students in the fields of programming and computer science specializations, in addition to preparing teachers to teach using modern technology.
With regard to technical education, the minister stressed the state's and political leadership's support for this sector, and its development, which contributes to the development of the Egyptian economy and the creation of a generation capable of competing in the labor market, pointing to the improvement of the mental image of technical education in cooperation with industrial partners, and the provision of unprecedented new specializations, by seeking to increase the number of applied technology schools, which began in 2018 with three schools and currently number 82 schools.
The minister also discussed the centers of excellence, which are an advanced model of technical education schools, and are a partnership with a group of companies and bodies representing the economic sector, where schools are selected, developed and equipped with modern equipment to ensure that students acquire the skills necessary for the labor market, with the aim of advancing and promoting technical education.
For his part, the Greek Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports expressed his happiness to visit Egypt, and his country's aspiration to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in the field of integrating digital technology and artificial intelligence into the educational process, referring to Greece's ambitious agenda in developing technical education, developing and building capacities, enhancing technical skills and attracting students to technical education, as well as supporting partnership with the private sector.
The meeting discussed the programs offered in the education systems of the two countries, efforts to develop the educational process, and introduce modern technology into the educational process, in addition to exchanging expertise on developing technical education and establishing applied technology schools in areas of common interest.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Athanasios Liossis, Deputy Head of Mission at the Greek Embassy, Mr. Dimitrios Sotiropoulos, Head of the General Archives of the State of Greece, and Mr. Ioannis Nikolaos Melachrinoudis, Attaché at the Greek Embassy.
