Today, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education witnessed the closing ceremony to honor the winners of the National Reading Project Competition in its second session, which is organized by the Emirates Scientific Research Foundation.
In her speech, on behalf of Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, Dr. Iman Hassan, Head of the Central Administration for Student Activities, expressed her happiness to participate in the closing ceremony to honor the winners among our students and fellow teachers. The esteemed institution, for their tireless efforts to make this huge cultural project a success; Wishing them continued success and payment, and for this distinguished competition to achieve its desired goals.
And she emphasized that the National Reading Project achieved great success, which was launched in cooperation with the Emirates Scientific Research Foundation in March 2020; With the aim of developing awareness of the importance of reading, preserving the Arab identity, empowering generations with the keys to innovation, and supporting national and human values; Its mission is to bring about a renaissance in reading by making it a priority for all segments of society. The National Reading Project contributes to the cultural leadership of our youth and children by enriching the cultural environment, as well as taking care of young people’s books by enriching libraries, raising the quality of content and output, and encouraging institutions and community participation in support of reading. By presenting exemplary sustainable cultural projects, according to a ten-year plan that is in line with Egypt's Vision 2030.
The Head of the Central Administration for Activities affirmed the Ministry's continued full support for this project, in order to achieve its lofty goals in building the integrated Arab personality, unleashing its potential to the fullest extent, and refining it with the required knowledge, skills and values, in line with local, regional and global changes.
The head of the Central Administration for Student Activities indicated that all participants in this competition are winners, and there is not a single loser.
For her part, Naglaa Al Shamsi, President of the Scientific Research Foundation, congratulated all Egyptians for their willingness to read, and the elite winners for reaching the platform of honor and winning prizes. She also appreciated the constructive cooperation of Egyptian families, field educational authorities and ministerial institutions, which provided a lot for the success of the project in its second year.
At the end of her speech, she said to our students that the world has received knowledge from you, and now it is your turn to take over the leadership of the path again, and she also thanked the partners of this cultural event.
It is worth noting that about 12 million participants participated in the competition this year, with the participation of 35,000 Azhari schools and institutes, 145 universities, 780 colleges, and 600 educational institutions. Knowledge competition competitions in the three categories of the project, namely; The “educated student” category among school students, the “diamond reader” category among university students, and the “educated teacher” category among teachers.
The total value of the prizes is 20 million Egyptian pounds, whereby the owners of the first, second and third positions in each of the three axes of the competition will receive a prize of one million pounds, half a million pounds, and a quarter of a million pounds, respectively, and the rest of the winners will receive prizes ranging between 50 and 100 thousand pounds. Egyptian as well as media covered cultural trips.
At the end of the ceremony, the winners were announced. Where 20 students won the (educated student) competition and won the competition title for this year, the student reciter Adham Ahmed Awad Abu Al-Joud, a student in the (second secondary) grade at (Al-Rahmaniya Secondary School) in (Damietta) governorate, and 10 students won the diamond reciter category, and won the competition title And its cup for this year was the student reader (Omar Badri Muhammad Khamis), a student at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Minya. In the category of the educated teacher, 10 teachers won, as he won the title of the competition. Arabic) at Al-Azhar Institute (Tawakul Preparatory Girls Model Institute (Qira’at) in (Gharbia) Governorate.
