The first edition of the North African Schools Championship will be held from 7-12 October 2022
This morning, for the first time, the North African Football Championship kicked off in its first edition, qualifying for the African Championship at the 30 June Stadium, which Egypt will host during the period from 7 to 12 October, and qualifying for the African Championship for Schools on the continent, under the sponsorship and support of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Confederation of African Football, and the Egyptian Federation for School Sports; To encourage students to exchange cultures at the Arab, African and international levels.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Eman Hassan, Vice President of the Egyptian and Arab Federation for School Sports and Head of the Central Administration for Student Activities, on behalf of Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, Veron Musnego, Secretary General of the African Union, and Abdel Aziz El Shalemani. President of the North African Union, and the ambassadors of the countries participating in the tournament.
At the outset, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, welcomed, in a speech delivered on his behalf by Dr. Eman Hassan, head of the Central Department for Student Activities, saying: It is our pleasure that Egypt hosts the first edition of the North African Championship, which we hope will bear fruit from the cohesion of students Schools in Egypt with school students in sister countries participating in that tournament, and to return to their countries with new cultures and new friends, noting that this is the real goal of the combined Arab and African tournaments.
Dr. Reda Hegazy explained that the state is interested in developing education, encouraging innovation, discovering and nurturing talented people in all academic subjects and school activities, and refining their skills in all disciplines.
In his speech, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi stressed the great interest that the Ministry attaches to spreading the culture of sports practice among young people and youth at the level of all governorates of the Republic, including school and university students, in cooperation with ministries and relevant authorities in light of the directives of the political leadership.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi valued the African Schools Championship, which was adopted by the Confederation of African Football, in the framework of cooperation with local federations and seeking to develop the capabilities of young people in football, and discovering the talented among them.
Dr. Eman Hassan also thanked Prof. Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, and Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, for their generous sponsorship of this tournament, Mr. Gamal Allam, President of the Egyptian Football Association, and Mr. Walid Al-Attar, Executive Director of the Federation for their tangible efforts to make this event a success. The tournament, and I especially thanked the participating sister delegations, wishing all the success to our students in this tournament.
In his speech, Abdel Hakim Chalmani, President of the North African Union, welcomed the attendees, stressing Egypt's precious and pivotal position in Africa, and expressed his thanks for its role in embracing African students and organizing the under-20 school championship, wishing success to all teams and all students participating in this sports tournament and all tournaments.
In his speech, CAF General Secretary Veron Musnego stressed the importance of this day. On behalf of CAF President Patrice Motsepe, he thanked the organizers of this event to realize the dream of holding this tournament, and thanked the participating students and their parents; For their confidence in (Kef).
Veron Musnego expressed his appreciation and thanks to the Egyptian government for sponsoring the African Schools Football Program of the Confederation of African Football, noting that the Egyptian Football Association is one of the main founders of CAF.
The ministry explained that the tournament will be held with the participation of 10 boys/girls schools from the following African countries: "Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco."
The tournament started with a match between the Egypt and Libya teams for girls, which resulted in the victory of the Egyptian team (5-0), and a match between the teams of Egypt and Libya for boys, which resulted in the victory of the Egyptian team (2-0).
It is worth noting that the qualifiers for the North African Schools Football Championship, which qualifies for the North African Championship, which was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Egyptian Football Association, was launched in July 2022 in the belief in the importance of school sports activity and its essential and effective role in Building the personality of our students, by developing their athletic abilities and talents, as well as its positive role in upgrading their behavior.
