Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received today, Nuria Sanz, Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo, and her accompanying delegation; to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in current and future educational projects.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif praised UNESCO's distinguished efforts in supporting the development of education, pointing to the ongoing fruitful cooperation between the Ministry and the Organization in all pre-university education files. He also expressed his aspiration for more joint work in order to open up promising future horizons for our students.

The Minister spoke about the challenges facing the educational process on the ground, stressing that the Ministry overcame them through the solidarity of all those concerned with the educational process and developing and implementing plans.

The Minister stressed the need to cooperate with UNESCO to continue developing distinguished programs for digital transformation and training teachers on them, to build teachers' capacities to use technology and digital content, integrate digital education into adult education, and sustainability in adult education.

For her part, Nuria Sanz, Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo, expressed her happiness and keenness to cooperate with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, stressing that the organization's mission is to support education and learning, especially in Egypt, given its pivotal role in the region.

Nuria Sanz praised the ministry's distinguished efforts in the field of developing pre-university education and overcoming the difficulties accumulated over years in months, which is admirable, stressing the organization's commitment to fully support the educational process in Egypt.

The Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo stressed the importance of this meeting to discuss future plans, proposals and viewpoints; to reach a common vision that can be implemented.

The meeting included many discussions on advancing educational excellence in Egypt, presenting the ministry's achievements through UNESCO's international reports, conferences and seminars, advancing STEM education, digital platforms and programming initiatives, and enhancing policy dialogue on vocational and technical education and training and skills development.

During the meeting, Nuria Sanz reviewed preparations for launching the GEM 2024/2025 report on leadership in education, expanding teacher training and using artificial intelligence and innovative tools, and promoting education for sustainable development through impactful projects, in addition to outlining the roadmap for the activities of the collaborative program between the Ministry and the United Nations Environment Organization for the year 2025, in line with the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals, in addition to the main initiatives that shape the future of education in Egypt.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Robert Barua, Program Specialist at the UNESCO Office, and Ms. Doaa Hazem, Project Officer at the Education Section at the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo.
