Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, met with Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, to discuss the directions of the economic and social development plan for the fiscal year 2025/26 for the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.

During the meeting, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat explained that education represents a fundamental pillar for human resource development and increasing cognitive awareness to keep pace with modern developments and the requirements of digital transformation and the transition to a knowledge economy. It also helps positively interact with modern industrial and technological revolutions, maximize the benefits of their advantages, and enhance international competitiveness in various areas of life.

Al-Mashat emphasized that the state attaches great importance to developing and advancing the education system by allocating resources to planning and implementing plans, programs, and projects aimed at improving the quality of educational services, applying modern educational technologies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of educational outcomes, and paving the way for creating a new generation with a better education.

She added that the economic and social development plan for the fiscal year 2025/26 is committed to ensuring the right to education for citizens through several mechanisms, most notably raising enrollment rates and reducing dropouts from the education process, narrowing the educational gap between children in urban and rural areas, expanding the establishment of schools for all educational levels in all regions, developing technological infrastructure, and developing the scientific research system by updating the system of legislation and regulations governing the scientific research process and developing human resources working in the field of scientific research.

The two parties discussed the Ministry of Education and Technical Education's investment plan, including targeted investments for 2025/2026. Total investments allocated by the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation to the government apparatus within the Ministry of Education and Technical Education amounted to approximately EGP 30.5 billion.

In a related context, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat addressed the "National Narrative for Economic Development," which includes a special chapter on enhancing the efficiency and flexibility of the labor market and the state's efforts to expand technical and applied technology schools through partnerships with the private sector, to create qualified cadres and competencies for the labor market.

She also noted the commencement of preparing the economic and social development plan within the framework of medium-term budgets, starting with the fiscal year 2026/2027. She explained that the National Monitoring and Evaluation System (Adaa) is working to monitor and evaluate the performance of all units to implement development plans through quantitative performance indicators and ensure the achievement of targets.

For his part, Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif affirmed that the state is keen to place education at the forefront of its priorities, as reflected in the ongoing steps and efforts to develop the educational process, upgrade infrastructure, and expand the number of schools nationwide.

Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif added that the Ministry aims to continue directing investments in the education sector to improve the quality of the educational process and advance it in all aspects, resulting in the provision of a distinguished educational system for students that keeps pace with successive global developments.

The two ministers pointed to the presidential directives to advance the level of education in all aspects, through the establishment of applied technology schools, which represent an effective model for developing technical education in Egypt, the continued establishment of Japanese schools and schools for excellence in science and technology, in addition to focusing on educational fields related to mathematics, physics, and engineering, as well as modern technologies such as programming and artificial intelligence.
