Today, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated in the closing activities of the fifteenth edition of the Egyptian Olympiad in Informatics, in the presence of Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, at the Academy’s branch in Abu Qir in Alexandria.
Dr. Reda Hegazy said that it is my pleasure to participate with you today in the closing ceremony of the Egyptian Olympiad in Informatics, this important event, which is the largest and most important competition in computer algorithms, programming and methods of systematic solving all problems for middle and high school students.
He added that this Olympiad contributed to the discovery of many distinguished young people in the field of communications and information technology, most of whom received scholarships at the most prestigious universities abroad, and some of them are currently working in major international companies.
He explained that science is strength and the key to the future. It is the best investment in people, and it is the pillar of peoples towards progress and prosperity, and it is the first factor to achieve human achievements throughout the ages, and Egypt, with its professors and experts in all fields of science and knowledge, is able to support Arab and African countries.
The minister pointed out that human wealth is the greatest and greatest treasure of every nation, so we must all give it priority, attention and full care to bring out into society an effective human capable of giving to his country.
Ali stressed that the interest in this technological competition supports the digital transformation strategy pursued by the state, under the generous patronage of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Republic, which aims to provide easier and easier services for citizens, in light of the tremendous scientific and technological progress around the world.
He continued: "In this context, the ministry seeks to promote digital transformation in the field of education and work to discover talented and talented people and provide them with skills that achieve self-development for them while taking care of them educationally, culturally and socially so that they can develop their talents and reach the highest levels of excellence and creativity."
At the conclusion of his speech, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, sent a message to the students to maintain their excellence and success in the future, pointing out the need to preserve the success achieved by students in the Olympiad.
Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail said that the Egyptian Olympiad in Informatics is the largest programming and problem-solving competition for middle and high school students.
Abdel Ghaffar added that the Olympiad is a joint program between the Arab Academy for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology since 2003 that has contributed to the emergence of many geniuses and talents who are now occupying positions in major world companies such as (Facebook and Microsoft), and has helped many students obtain Get full scholarships from the most prestigious universities in the world such as MIT, Stanford and Waterloo in Canada.
He explained that preparing for the Olympics begins with testing thousands of students in schools and clubs to select the best elements to enroll in a grant provided by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to train students in programming and methods of systematic solution for 45 training hours in cooperation with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, until we finish selecting the best 100 students to participate. He pointed out that Egypt is currently preparing to host the International Olympiad in Informatics in 2024, as it is the most important and prestigious competition in software and methods of systematic solution for school students around the world, and the history of the Olympiad dates back to October 1987.
The celebration was attended by a number of leaders of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, and leaders of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.
