Dr. Tariq Shawqi, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated in the launch ceremony of the Global Knowledge Index for the year 2021, organized by the United Nations Development Program in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, at the United Nations Forum at Expo Dubai, as part of his participation in a number of Important events in the education file, most notably the RewirEd Summit, which will be held until December 14.
In the Global Knowledge Index for the year 2021, Egypt ranked first in Africa, as it ranked 53rd at the level of 154 countries for the current year, jumping 19 places compared to last year (72nd place at the level of 138 countries during the past year 2020).
Egypt's ranking in "pre-university education" came in 73rd, jumping 11 places compared to 2020 (83rd), and Egypt's ranking in technical and technical education ranked 68th, jumping 12 places compared to 2020 (80th).
Egypt’s general ranking in the Global Knowledge Index for the year 2021 witnessed its attainment of 53rd place compared to 72nd place in 2020, as a result of the efforts made by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education to develop the educational process.
The report reviewed the progress achieved by Egypt in the technical education sector and its development, as the Ministry of Education and Technical Education began, since 2018, to adopt a clear strategy to reform and develop technical education through the establishment of applied technology schools and advanced infrastructure, to make a real leap in the quality of technical education graduates. By transforming curricula into a competency-based curricula.
The launch ceremony witnessed the organization of a ministerial discussion session entitled "Policy Making in the Age of Knowledge", in which Eng. Hussain Al Hammadi, Minister of Education in the UAE, Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education in Egypt, Mr. Ahmed Al Hanandeh, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship in Jordan, and Dr. Fadia Kiwan, Director General of the Arab Women Organization, and Professor of Applied Statistics, Dr. Hani Turki, moderated the discussion session.
The index comes under the umbrella of the partnership between the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation and the United Nations Development Program through the "Knowledge Project".
