While participating in the RewirEd Education Summit The Minister of Education participates in “Improving Learning through Data: The Learning Data Charter”)

During the RewirEd Education Summit, Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated in a panel discussion organized by the World Bank entitled “Improving Learning through Data: The Learning Data Charter”.
The main objective of the session was to discuss the importance of having more and better education data for teachers and students at all stages, the need for learning data to support the work of teachers, how countries can assess learning and the use of data, and how the international community can improve coordination and quality in global efforts to measure what students learn.
Dr. Shawky talked about the new Egyptian Education System 2.0, cooperation with the World Bank for 4 years, and the importance of data in building the education system.
Attendees included Ms. Stefania Giannini, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO, Dr. Dipu Moni, Minister of Education of Bangladesh, Mr. Jaime Saavedra, Global Director of Education at the World Bank, and Mr. Robert Jenkins, Director of Education at UNICEF
The Minister of Education and Technical Education also participated in a panel discussion entitled "Regional Innovations in the Middle East and North Africa in Education Systems", with the participation of Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Asimi, Director General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, Dr. Maitha Al Shamsi, Minister of State for the United Arab Emirates, and Dr. Saud bin Saeed Al-Mathani, Secretary-General of the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, Dr. Mansour Al-Awar, Director of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technology in Education, and Dr. Majid Bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, Minister of Education, Kingdom of Bahrain.
This session highlighted the need for a transformation in education to continue to nurture a strong sense of innovation. As part of the conversation, speakers presented the latest insights and case studies from the region.
The minister also discussed during the session the future vision for Egypt, especially in terms of students acquiring skills that contribute to their readiness for the labor market.
