Today, Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, reviewed Egypt's experience in developing education, in a symposium entitled "Education in Egypt: From Kindergarten to the Labor Market", on the sidelines of his participation in the Egyptian pavilion at "Expo 2020" held in Dubai.
The seminar was attended by His Excellency Dr. Hussain Al Hammadi, Minister of Education of the United Arab Emirates, Her Excellency Jamila bint Salem Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public Education Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, a number of UAE education officials, and university presidents.
In his speech, the Minister of Education and Technical Education confirmed that the Egyptian state has adopted the national project for the development of education, which aims to prepare a new vision for the educational community as a whole, so that the student becomes more interested in learning and innovation, pointing out that the Ministry is working hard to develop education curricula to meet the increasing demands of the labor market. Whether at the local or international level, as well as enhancing and developing skills among young people.
In his speech, Shawky touched on the efforts made by the Ministry to develop educational curricula since 2017, where the Curriculum Development Center has developed curricula for kindergarten, first grade and up to grade four primary, according to a vision based on the idea of ​​sequencing and scientific accumulation, and in a manner that is commensurate with With international standards, in cooperation with experts and international partners, especially the World Bank and the United Nations Children's Fund "UNICEF".
Dr. Tarek Shawky added that during the past three years, the Curriculum Development Center was able to benefit from international experiences and partnerships to localize more experiences in the center, and to enhance the capabilities of its cadres, who have become able to author, edit and develop curricula in all disciplines at the highest level and in accordance with international standards, adding in this In this regard, it can be said that Egypt has not only a national curricula center, but also a regional center for developing curricula in a way that also serves the needs of friendly countries.
The Minister of Education indicated that, in conjunction with the development of curricula, comprehensive rehabilitation and training programs for teachers are also being worked on to teach the new curricula.
On technical education, Dr. Tarek Shawky stressed that the future of technical education will be different, as the ministry is working to attract more students, by linking the entire technical education to the Egyptian, Arab and global labor market, and creating new disciplines such as artificial intelligence, jewelry, programming and port work, to meet the needs of the Egyptian market. the job.
He continued, "More than 70% of technical education programs have been converted to competency-based programs, explaining that the competency system aims to link technical education graduates to the labor market, and is based on measuring the skills that students acquire throughout their study period, not just memorization skills."
Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education concluded his speech, saying: "The competency program is being implemented in more than 400 technical schools out of a total of 2500, and the private sector has also participated, and the number of applied technology schools has been increased from 3 schools in 2018 to 27 schools until today. and the introduction of new disciplines such as artificial intelligence, jewellery, and jewellery.
The attendees praised Egypt's efforts in developing the educational process, linking education graduates to the labor market, and giving them the necessary skills that will help them open up future prospects for them.
