The Minister of Education reviews the efforts of the preparatory stage curriculum development committee workshop
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, reviewed the efforts of the Preparatory Stage Curriculum Development Committee workshop, which was held by the Ministry over successive days to formulate the general framework for the preparatory stage curricula in accordance with the new education system with the support of UNICEF, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mervat El Deeb. Chairman of the Preparatory Stage Curriculum Development Committee, Dr. Akram Hassan, Head of the Central Administration for Curriculum Development in the Ministry, and a group of university professors and experts from the Central Administration for Curriculum Development.
Dr. Reda Hijazi stressed the need to build curricula on scientific foundations in a planned and thoughtful manner, adding that this workshop aims to formulate the Ministry's vision for the general framework of preparatory stage curricula and focus on major concepts in accordance with international and global standards in designing curricula in line with the requirements of the times. In this context, the Ministry Keen to exchange experiences with international bodies and listen to other visions in the development of education as well.
Dr. Reda Hegazy also confirmed that the formulation of the general framework for the preparatory stage curricula aims to improve the learner's quality of life and achieve the pleasure of learning, noting that the goal of education is to prepare the individual for life and self-development.
The minister added that the ministry is continuing to develop educational curricula based on what has been achieved over the past years according to the new education system in order to achieve the desired learning outcomes, and in line with the state’s strategy for sustainable development, and focus on introducing modern concepts and concepts of sustainable development, citizenship and artificial intelligence in line with The Egyptian context and the Egyptian identity.
Dr. Reda Hegazy indicated that the ministry is keen to include the foundations on which Egypt's reform vision is built, including, for example, life skills and the values that support it, and the issues and challenges facing Egypt as part of the world, such as climate change, and adopting the applied side of it to ensure that students are able to employ what they have learned. He also emphasized the achievement of the unity and integration of knowledge.
For his part, Dr. Akram Hassan, Head of the Central Administration for Curriculum Development, stressed the need to focus on addressing contemporary issues within the general framework of the curricula, such as sustainable development goals, preparing the individual to adapt to environmental issues, achieving justice and respecting others and values in general, praising the participating teams in the workshop and their distinguished expertise in Curriculum development.
Prof. Mervat El-Deeb, Chair of the Preparatory Stage Curriculum Development Committee, indicated that the committee aims to achieve the quality of life of learners and their families and to achieve enjoyment for the learner, and that the experts are keen to perform the work to the fullest.
For her part, Dr. Hanem Ahmed, an education specialist at UNICEF, expressed UNICEF's appreciation and welcome for cooperation with the Ministry of Education to support the development of the educational process, noting UNICEF's aspiration to create more cooperation, strengthen partnership with the Egyptian government in the educational field, and provide all means of support. In line with the vision of the Ministry and the Egyptian state.
