Within the framework of the approval of Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, to start the procedures for the fulfillment of the education job holders, provided that they obtain the certificate of authority necessary for promotion for the year 2022/2023, the activities of promotion trainings for members of the education staff have begun on the training program “Supporting Teachers’ Skills in Awareness Development” students in climate change in light of the requirements of sustainable development”, with a total of 223,717 targets for training.
This training on this program comes in line with the interest of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in hosting Egypt for the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, from 7-18 November 2022 in Sharm El-Sheikh.
The Minister of Education and Technical Education directed the necessity of providing all factors of success and excellence for the success of the training program, in addition to providing all means of comfort for teachers by equipping training halls, providing the necessary equipment and tools for training and making the most of the training program, which is a clear reflection of what the Ministry of Education is doing. From great efforts to improve the educational system’s tools, raise the quality and efficiency of teachers, and emphasize their clear role in pushing the locomotive of development in Egypt and the importance of transferring training experience to Egyptian teachers, applying it on the ground and reflecting this in students’ behavior through correct environmental practices characterized by limiting the negative effects of climate change. He also directed the necessity and adoption of creative and innovative methods in developing students’ awareness of environmental issues and translating global trends on environmental issues and climate change into educational activities that emphasize the interaction and positivity of students to acquire knowledge, attitudes, skills, positive environmental behaviors and desired values that are consistent with the education curriculum for sustainable development, and avoid practices Traditional educational approaches that do not develop students’ skills and do not motivate their minds to think in a scientific way about the problems they face in their daily lives. These trends are clearly in line with the strategic goals of education contained in the National Strategy for Sustainable Development “Egypt Vision 2030.”
