The Minister of Education participates in a discussion session entitled "Project Open Schools for All that Support Technology")

Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated in a discussion session entitled "The Project for Schools Open to All Supporting Technology", organized by UNESCO, on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Summit (COP27).
The panel discussion covered several topics dealing with the digital transformation of education models in the context of climate change with a common vision to enhance the resilience of education systems, and explore synergies and possibilities for sharing resources across countries and partners.
In his speech, the minister said that since the beginning of the project in 2021, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, in cooperation with the UNESCO Cairo office and Huawei officials, has sought to adopt an ambitious plan to achieve the maximum benefit for all parties involved in the technology-supported open schools project.
He pointed out that several meetings were held, which aimed to develop an ICT competency framework for teachers and develop an institutional framework for it within the Professional Academy for Teachers, and to enable teachers, managers and mentors to use technology and digital content in their professional development and teaching to support blended learning in school or distance learning.
He explained that the ministry worked to enhance the continuous professional development of teachers, supervisors and managers through the training platform that is being developed at the present time, and then held a series of digital training courses prepared specifically for the Egyptian context to ensure the continuity and quality of professional development, and the establishment of a digital library of knowledge sources and training materials. Based on the ICT context within the platform.
He added that digitized capacity-building courses have been developed on the integration of information and communication technology with the professional/educational practice of teachers, especially those working in disadvantaged areas, targeting the most needy groups, and training courses for trainers and training workshops have been organized to build the capacities of the concerned staff to design, produce and implement effective digital educational content for teachers.
At the conclusion of his speech, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, stressed the urgent need for cooperative efforts among all stakeholders, not only to ensure equal access to educational resources, but also to fulfill social obligations towards students.
The meeting was attended by the Assistant Director-General of UNESCO for the Education Sector Stephanie Jenni, and the session was moderated by Ms. Nina Manson, Program Officer at the UNESCO Office in Cairo.
