The Minister of Education holds a meeting with the leaders of the Professional Academy for Teachers
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, held a meeting with the leaders of the Professional Academy for Teachers, as part of the Ministry's efforts to promote the professional development of teachers.
This came in the presence of Dr. Zainab Khalifa, Director of the Professional Academy for Teachers, Dr. Sherine Hamdi, Advisor to the Minister for Administrative Development and Supervisor of the Central Administration for the Affairs of the Minister's Office, and Dr. Randa Shaheen, Head of the Central Administration for Public Education.
Dr. Reda Hegazy affirmed that, in implementation of the directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic regarding achieving sustainable professional development for teachers, new standards have been prepared for the development of teacher performance that are commensurate with the new education system, developments of the times, and meet the requirements of tomorrow's teacher, indicating that this is done through the Professional Academy for Teachers. And a number of ministry departments, including the Central Administration for Teachers Affairs, the Central Administration for Curriculum Development, the Central Administration for Education Technology, the Central Administration for General Education, and the General Administration for Educational Leaders Affairs, in addition to the National Center for Examinations and Educational Evaluation, in cooperation with USAID and the World Bank. And UNICEF.
The minister pointed out the need to establish a societal dialogue on the teacher's standards document, in order to listen to different opinions, and benefit from them in enriching those standards, and producing them in the best possible way.
The minister also stressed the importance of selecting qualified trainers and applying the best quality standards, directing the building of a guide for accrediting professional development services, in line with the rapid developments of the era, local and international changes, and supporting the country's approach towards digital transformation.
During the meeting, some important issues related to teachers were reviewed, as Dr. Reda Hegazy directed to solve all problems facing teachers, and to work to overcome all obstacles facing their promotions.
The Minister also agreed that the Professional Academy for Teachers would take the necessary measures to document professional development services certificates from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is to achieve maximum benefit from the certificates granted by the Academy, and to allow the exchange of experiences with other countries.
The minister also directed the academy, in cooperation with the colleges of education, to benefit from research and scientific theses (Master's and PhD) in the areas of professional development for teachers; To enrich the Academy’s library with copies of it; And achieving the desired benefit, especially with regard to the results that came out of it, and the recommendations they contained that contribute to the improvement of the educational system.
The minister also directed the issuance of a scientific journal from the academy, after taking the necessary measures for that. This is to allow the publication of research extracted from scientific theses, and research articles received from faculty members in faculties of education inside and outside Egypt.
He also directed the minister to take advantage of the teacher axis in the ministry's strategic plan (2024-2029), in preparing an executive plan for the academy regarding the teacher, and achieving sustainable professional development for him.
