The activities of the final qualifiers for the "National Project for Reading Egypt in the Colors of Knowledge", the second season, were launched today, under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, and under the supervision of Professor Ilham Ahmed Ibrahim, Head of Services and Activities Sector, General Coordinator of the project, in cooperation with the UAE Scientific Research Foundation With the participation of large numbers of students from different governorates of the Republic.
The Ministry of Education and Technical Education clarified that the National Reading Project is a competitive cultural project that aims to guide Egypt’s children and youth to continue reading creative and critical careers. Which enables them to acquire knowledge, apply it and produce new ones, in order to reach a society that learns, thinks and innovates, which is consistent with Egypt’s Vision 2030, and in line with the development agenda of the Ministry.
The ministry said that this project is based on four main dimensions: the knowledge competition in reading among school students, the Diamond Code in which university students compete in reading, and the educated teacher; where teachers compete in reading, the enlightenment institution; This is where societal institutions compete.
For her part, Ms. Elham Ahmed Ibrahim, Head of Services and Activities Sector, said that the project aims to bring about a renaissance in reading and make it a priority for all segments of society, while achieving knowledge sustainability that puts Egypt in the appropriate position it deserves among countries.
The head of the services and activities sector stressed that the national project for reading aims to achieve developing awareness of the importance of reading, empowering the younger generations with the keys to innovation through creative and critical reading that produces knowledge, enhancing the national sense and a sense of belonging, supporting national and human values, enriching the cultural environment in schools, institutes and universities, and achieving tolerance. acceptance of the other, as well as encouraging societal contributions that support reading.
She pointed out that the National Reading Project is a 10-year sustainable competitive project, aimed at guiding Egypt's children and youth to continue reading creative and critical careers. Libraries and mentors of the Arabic language in the educational directorates.
For his part, Professor Hisham Al-Sanjari, Director of Educational Projects at the Scientific Research Foundation, Egypt and North Africa Branch, said that the first dimension of the project is concerned with the "educated student" of the students of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the pre-university education stage from all schools of the Republic.
Mr. Hisham Al Sanjari indicated that last year 3,500,000 participants participated in the four dimensions of the competition, and the number doubled this year and will be announced at the closing ceremony, explaining that the first category in the “Educated Teacher” competition targets students from the first to third grades of primary school, and the second category. From the fourth to the sixth grade of primary school, the third category from the first to the third preparatory grade, and the fourth category from the first to the third secondary grade, where students compete to read 30 books according to their choice, and the pages of these books range from 10 pages to a minimum of 85 pages, He explained that the arbitration takes place in the first stage at the school level, to select the first for each category, and then moves to the next stage, which is at the level of the educational administration, to choose the first administration from each category, and accordingly the administration nominates 4 students representing the 4 categories to the educational directorate, and the arbitration between them is done according to For one and specific mechanisms, the approved project guide, and an arbitration matrix that will be trained by the experts of the Scientific Research Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Education; To choose the top five for each category who participate in the final qualifiers at the level of the Republic, then comes the fifth stage, which is the arrangement of the winners from the first to the tenth, and the winner of the first place in the “Educated Student” competition will receive a prize of one million pounds, in addition to the educated student cup and a certificate of appreciation. And a medal, then the prizes range, where the first of each category receives a prize of 500,000 pounds, and the winner from the second to the fifth receives a prize of 50,000 pounds, a medal and a certificate of appreciation, in addition to inviting all the winners to visit the largest global libraries.
The Director of Educational Projects at the Scientific Research Foundation, Egypt and North Africa Branch added that the second dimension is concerned with the “Educated Teacher” competition, which is directed to all Egyptian teachers and specialists, where each participant reads 30 books appropriate to the teacher’s level without specifying pages, and arbitration is conducted at the school level to nominate the first, then the educational administration, then The educational directorate and each directorate nominates the top 3 teachers for the final qualifiers, where the first winner receives a prize of one million pounds, 500,000 pounds for the second winner, and 250,000 pounds for the third winner, and from the fourth to the tenth, a financial prize of 100,000 pounds is awarded.
The winners of the "Educated Teacher" and "Educated Student" qualifications were honored during the final qualifiers from the educational directorates at the governorate level.
The activities of the final qualifiers for the project were attended by a number of officials from the services and activities sector, the Emirates Scientific Research Foundation and a number of leaders of the Ministry of Education.
