Within the framework of the support and patronage of Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education for Reading, Raising Awareness, and Empowering Generations with the Keys to Innovation, the Ministry held a meeting, via video conference, with directors of executive affairs and directors of all libraries in preparation for the launch of the third edition of the National Reading Project for 2022/2023.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Iman Hassan, Head of the Central Department for Student Activities and General Coordinator of the National Reading Project, Ms. Zainab Nour El Din Mashhour, Director General of the General Administration of Libraries, Hisham Al Sanjari, Director of Educational Projects at the Scientific Research Foundation - Egypt and North Africa Branch, Ahmed Marzouk, responsible for administrative and logistical support, and Engineer Eman Mohsen IT Administrator.

The National Reading Project aims to bring about a renaissance in reading by making it a priority for all segments of society. To achieve cognitive sustainability that makes the Arab Republic of Egypt a cultural leader with its children, youth and other citizens, and to enhance the sense of patriotism and a sense of belonging by supporting national and human values, and enriching the cultural environment in schools, in addition to taking care of books by enriching libraries and raising the quality of content and output, and presenting a model sustainable cultural project based on Scientific foundations to encourage similar projects.

Dr. Iman Hassan said that all students wishing to all schools (government / private) for all educational levels (primary - preparatory - general and technical secondary) will be registered by the librarian on the National Reading Project website, and registration will be made available to all teachers in all disciplines, and school specialists wishing to Subscribe through the project website https://nationalreadingprogramme.com

She explained that this project is based on the educated student and the educated teacher, noting that the competition aims to increase students' awareness of the importance of reading in acquiring values, collecting and producing knowledge from students, and developing students' creative and critical reading skills in all reading activities, and adopting reading as a permanent means of self-learning and skills development. their lives, and building the students’ personality linguistically, culturally and socially.

And she continued: "The competition (the educated teacher) also aims to deepen teachers' belief in the importance of reading in acquiring values, acquiring and producing knowledge, consolidating the practice of daily reading among all participating teachers, enabling teachers to use reading to improve the implementation of curricula through purposeful reading.

For his part, Mr. Hisham Al-Sanjari stressed that the National Reading Project is a sustainable, competitive cultural project that aims to guide Egyptian children and youth to continue reading creative and critical careers, which enables them to acquire knowledge, apply it and produce new ones.

The meeting included a response to all questions and inquiries related to the project, and thanks were given to all attendees for their active participation, in addition to identifying work mechanisms to implement the project.
