The Ministry of Education announces the opening of online registration for kindergarten and first grade)

The Ministry of Education and Technical Education announced the start of online registration for first grade in public schools and kindergarten in public and official language schools. The registration period will begin from June 1 to June 30, 2025, through the dedicated online application on the Ministry of Education and Technical Education Information Center portal (emis.gov.eg).

This comes to ease the burden on parents, in preparation for the new academic year (2025/2026), and as part of the Ministry's commitment to completing the work it has done in previous years, including establishing a unified electronic platform nationwide for all governorates. Through this platform, parents can apply online for their children to enroll in the first grade of primary school (public schools), as well as apply online for the first grade of kindergarten (public and public language schools).

The Ministry confirmed that the minimum age for applying for the first grade of primary school is no less than 6 years and no more than 9 years, while the minimum age for applying for kindergarten is no less than 4 years. Coordination of students is carried out through the educational directorates in each governorate, based on the density and circumstances of each directorate, in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. (154) of 1989 regarding enrollment in Ministry schools.

The Ministry also clarified that once a child's guardian applies for first grade, the child's data is available to all payment outlets for payment of the prescribed tuition fees. Parents can track the preliminary acceptance results through the same website. After the results are announced, parents can go to the school to submit the accepted student's paper file and follow up on the status of their submission to the school for final acceptance, after reviewing the paper file and ensuring its completeness.

If the parent is unable to register online, the school can assist them. The information unit official will register the student's application electronically after reviewing the parent's computerized birth certificate and national ID card. In the case of educational guardianship, the court ruling will be reviewed.

For international students, the parent submits the enrollment papers to the Education Department, where the relevant authority reviews the documents. Schools are then notified of the accepted students, and school principals are required to register their data in the central database.
