The Minister of Education and the Governor of Sharkia inspect the Rehabilitation Center for People with Special Needs in the Tenth of Ramadan City
Today, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, accompanied by Dr. Mamdouh Ghorab, Governor of Sharkia, and Muhammad Fouad Al-Rashidi, Director of the Directorate of Education in Sharkia; Rehabilitation Center for People with Special Needs in the Tenth of Ramadan City; In order to follow up the progress of work, and to check on the efficiency of the services provided by the center.
The Minister of Education confirmed that the Ministry is working to provide an integrated system of services for people with special needs within the center, in which all international standards are taken into account, within the framework of the directives of the political leadership, to pay attention to people with special needs and provide all means of support for them, indicating that the Ministry places it at the top of its priorities. Take all necessary measures to educate and prepare them, in order to facilitate their lives, participation and integration into society.
Dr. Reda Hegazy praised the efforts made and the services provided by the center, directing the need to exploit these capabilities and the services provided, and to develop mechanisms to spread its services on a large scale until it reaches the Middle East region, directing to quickly hold a meeting of the center’s board of directors as soon as possible to develop an implementation plan to expand its range.
During the visit, the minister was briefed on the services provided by the center to rehabilitate people with special needs, which include (audiotherapy clinics, speech rooms, family counseling room, play and skills development room, 2 rooms for cognitive behavior and behavior modification, an occupational therapy hall, and a complementary room. For sensory therapy, in addition to the areas allocated for games according to the requirements specially prepared for people with special needs, the area designated for hydrotherapy and physiotherapy, the computer lab, the art room, the music room that contains modern musical instruments, the spinning and weaving workshop, and the residence rooms.
The minister met with a number of parents of students, who expressed their appreciation for the services provided by the center to their children, which greatly contributed to improving their health and lifting the burden on them, in addition to benefiting from the counseling lectures. To educate parents on how to deal with their children, students of determination, and individual and group programs, whether therapeutic, rehabilitative, training or educational programs for all people of determination from the governorates of Egypt.
It is worth noting that the Rehabilitation Center for People with Special Needs was established in the 10th of Ramadan City in 2019, and it is considered one of the largest rehabilitation centers for people with special needs in the Arab and African countries, with an area of 24 thousand square meters, interspersed with green spaces of up to 70% of the total area. The building has an area of 5,200,000 square meters and consists of three floors.
The center receives cases from students throughout the week from various schools of education, whether from integrated students or from special education schools.
