The Minister of Education attends a panel discussion entitled "School curricula and their relationship to society"
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, witnessed today a discussion session on "School curricula and their relationship to society" during the activities of the second day of the "Curriculum Development (Visions and Experiences)" Forum, which is organized by the Ministry in cooperation with UNICEF Egypt, on the 6th and 7th of August.
In his speech, Dr. Sami Hashim, Chairman of the Education Committee in the House of Representatives, thanked the Minister for his efforts in developing education and the work team in the ministry, pointing out the importance of the forum and that the development of curricula must continue in a way that contributes to building the student’s personality, taking into account solving the problems facing students in this field. Stage and desired growth results.
He said that the curriculum must contain what is needed at this stage, taking into account technological progress, preparing for an unknown future, and measuring forecast rates in light of the changing world.
He pointed to the importance of preparing the individual for life and success under all circumstances, pointing also to the serious challenge posed by artificial intelligence, stressing the importance of the education system's readiness to face this challenge and employ it to serve humanity, taking into account this in preparing curricula that depend on skills and information that gain value through application.
During the session, Nisreen Al-Baghdadi, a member of the National Council for Women, confirmed that the education project sheds light on two of the most important issues on which the progress and renaissance of societies depends, namely education and empowerment, explaining that Egypt has made unprecedented achievements in the file of women's empowerment, in light of the presence of a conscious political leadership. She believes that empowering women is a societal necessity.
She added that education is one of the most important issues of the social empowerment axis within the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Women 2023, praising the role of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education in developing curricula.
She pointed out that the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood conducted a study to prepare the image of women in the curricula of the primary, preparatory and secondary levels, and this study represents the image of respect for women, the image of women in the curricula, and the renunciation of violence against women.
Shahinaz Sheta, a member of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, emphasized the relationship between society and education, where education must influence society and the requirements of society should be reflected in education, stressing the importance of children knowing their rights in order to confront negative phenomena such as violence against children and early marriage, as they must be addressed. educational curricula these phenomena.
Major General Ahmed Al-Badri, Undersecretary of the Education Committee in the Senate, thanked Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education for this forum, explaining that the Senate spares no effort in communicating with the Ministry of Education in order to develop education.
He explained that the development process should be based on three pillars: values, skills, and knowledge, pointing out that values are the most important of these pillars because they are linked to building personality and national identity.
He added that a good teacher must be prepared, not only with information but with personal development as well, in addition to caring for the student, and it must not be separated from the home and there should be interaction between the teacher and the family, in addition to caring for the school.
In his speech, Mohamed Al-Saim, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Gomhoria newspaper, indicated that the educational role of the school is currently no less important than education in developing the values of religion, customs and traditions among students.
He stressed the need not to be led unconsciously behind the problems presented on social networking sites, pointing to the use of the technological revolution in the curricula in an intensive manner that is higher than what is currently available. It has a detrimental effect on society as a whole.
Today's activities witnessed panel discussions with the participation of a number of local and international experts specialized in the field of curricula to exchange visions and ideas about what is required to develop curricula during this stage and in line with the rapid changes in the world.
