The Ministers of "Education" and "Awqaf" honor the winners of the major cultural and religious competition
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, and Dr. Mohamed Mukhtar Gomaa, Minister of Awqaf and President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, honored the winners of the major religious cultural competition, which aims to spread moderate religious thought in Egyptian society.
In his speech, Dr. Reda Hegazy said that all Egyptian state agencies seek to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development through the implementation of Egypt's Vision 2030, and its most important goals at all are to build the integrated Egyptian person's personality, and unleash its capabilities to the fullest extent for a self-esteem, enlightened, creative, responsible and pluralistic citizen. He respects difference, is proud of his country's history, and is passionate about building its future.
He added that the ministry spares no effort in building the awareness of the Egyptian child, and giving him a good upbringing, so that he can go out to practical life, believing in God Almighty, realizing that God - the Almighty - has commanded us to learn, and that faith and knowledge are the criteria by which a person’s degree rises.
He continued: "With the Ministry of Education's interest in all school subjects, it gives religious education the utmost importance, so it is very keen to upgrade it, develop its curricula, modernize its methods, train its teachers, and intensify its activities, so that religious education turns from a study subject into an actual behavior." The student lives it, and it is reflected in his dealings.
He pointed out that this competition is not limited to one age group, and does not target students only, but rather it is a comprehensive competition, targeting all parties to the educational process: students, parents, administrators, teachers, and educational leaders.
The minister concluded his speech, saying: "As we honor today the first winners of the competition, we confirm that everyone who participated in it has already won, won with what he obtained of useful knowledge, and with what he learned of correct religious knowledge."
For his part, Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Juma, Minister of Endowments, affirmed that the issue of building awareness is a complementary issue in which many national institutions contribute, pointing out that there are broad partnerships in this field between the Ministry of Endowments, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Ministry of Culture. And the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and many national institutions.
The Minister of Awqaf added that the Ministry pays great attention to young people, saying, "We are all aware of the importance of early formation of the child's mentality, instilling virtues in it, and developing their awareness. What is imprinted in the children's mentality of false ideas needs double efforts to correct it after that," noting that teachers and mentors play a role Important in caring for the child's mentality, correcting their misconceptions, and forming an enlightened mentality.
The Minister of Endowments reviewed the efforts of the Ministry of Endowments to protect the new young people from destructive ideology and to educate them correctly in a way that protects them from slipping into hotbeds of extremism and terrorism, indicating that the Ministry of Endowments launched the Child Right Initiative by the end of 2021, which is an initiative that targets children inside mosques, with Opening mosques and coinciding with the end of the year holiday. The Ministry expanded the initiative and launched it at the republic level through the summer program for children, which was very popular with children, with great interest from parents, and keen interest in the participation of their children.
The Minister of Awqaf directed to host the winners of the joint cultural competition at Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq camp in Alexandria in honor of them, and to set up an entertainment camp for them that includes a visit to the Library of Alexandria, which contains the best books.
At the end of the ceremony, the two ministers honored the 74 winners of the major religious competition for the academic year 2021/2022 who participated in the competition, and each winner received a financial award presented by the Ministry of Endowments, a certificate of appreciation, and a set of books published by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
It is worth noting that this major religious competition is a research competition that aims to increase the school community’s awareness of true religion, and to correct misconceptions that may leak into the minds of students from undocumented websites on the Internet. A total of 58,311 contestants are presented to this competition, and it is directed to seven categories, three of which are: For students in the primary, preparatory, and secondary stages (general and technical), and four are directed to the rest of the educational process parties including parents, administrators in schools and educational departments, teachers, and educational leaders.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Akram Hassan, Head of the Central Administration for Curriculum Development, Dr. Ayman Abu Omar, Head of the Central Administration for Da`wah Affairs at the Ministry of Awqaf, Dr. Mahmoud Fouad, Religious Education Consultant, Imad Mansour, Director General of the General Administration of Central Services, and gentlemen of the general directors of religious education in the educational directorates.
