The first round of exams for the General Secondary School Certificate for the 2024/2025 academic year began this Sunday morning. This was amidst extensive preparations and close monitoring by the Central Operations Room of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education to ensure the smooth running of the exams and provide a safe and disciplined environment for all students. Examination committees across the country witnessed complete discipline in the examination process.

Students in both the old and new secondary school systems, both literary and scientific, took the Religious Education exam in the first round, with a total of 772,755 students, both male and female, before 1,973 examination committees nationwide. During the second round, 772,634 students took the National Education exam.

In the same context, 1,650 students from STEM schools took the Religious Education and National Education exams in 16 committees. 295 students from schools for the blind, both new and old systems, also took the Religious Education exam.

Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, monitored the first-round secondary school exams through the ministry's central operations room, ensuring the smooth running of the examination process in all governorates.

Before the exams began, the Minister communicated with all directors of education directorates present in the local operations rooms and ensured the presence of Ministry of Interior representatives to secure the traffic committee headquarters in all governorates.

Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif also followed up through the central operations room on the traffic accident involving a number of observers on their way to monitor traffic committees in Sohag Governorate. He reassured them of their stable health and directed coordination with the governorate to provide them with all necessary care.

In the context of monitoring the smooth running of exams, Professor Khaled Abdel Hakam, General Director of the General Secondary Examinations and Head of the Central Administration for Education Directorates Affairs, confirmed that all stages of the general secondary examination process are fully secure, starting with the printing of questions and their transfer to the exam booklet distribution centers, then to the exam committees, and the discipline and monitoring committees.

The first day of the general secondary examinations witnessed a state of calm and complete discipline in various examination committees across the country. The various measures taken, in coordination between the Ministry of Education, governorates, and relevant authorities, ensured the smooth running of the examination process across the country. This was in addition to full coordination with the Ministry of Interior to ensure the security of the examination committees.

It is worth noting that high school students in the literary and scientific sections (new system) are scheduled to take the first-term exam in the second foreign language on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, and (old system) in the subjects of economics and statistics. Students of schools for the gifted in science and technology will take the university admission readiness test (Arabic language) in the first period, and the concept scales (Arabic language) in the second period, while students of schools for the blind in both the new and old systems will take the exam in the subject of national education.
