Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated in a session on providing sources of funding for the development of education and bridging the financing gap in middle and low-income countries, as part of the activities of the Rewired Summit for Education, which will be held from 12 to 14 December, at Expo 2020 Dubai.
Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, said that in Egypt we have a huge educational system, and we have an ambitious plan, noting that many achievements have been achieved during the last period, challenging the time factor that is of great importance, and we continue what we started and seek to reach unimportant solutions. Traditional methods of financing the educational process, as the traditional methods take a lot of time, and we do not have the luxury of waiting.
The minister pointed out that with regard to financing education, middle and low-income countries face a set of constraints, noting that Egypt is working to develop all education axes in parallel, so it is working hard to provide sources of financing to achieve the desired development.
Dr. Tarek Shawky stressed that Egypt has worked to build a new educational system, a process that takes 14 years, of which 4 years have passed so far, and we are trying hard to speed up development, in light of the presence of many challenges, including that the education system in Egypt includes 25 million students, explaining that any delay or change in the development plan leads to undesirable consequences.
The minister pointed out that there is a close link between our ability to provide a good educational system and the provision of the required funding sources, so there is an urgent need to find innovative ways to finance educational projects, especially in light of a well-thought-out plan.
