The Minister of Education meets with the Secretary-General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met with Eng. Nevin Othman, Secretary General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, and her accompanying delegation, to discuss ways of cooperation and develop joint mechanisms of action with regard to child protection programs and support for their rights.
Dr. Reda Hegazy emphasized the pivotal and important role of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood in providing aspects of support, care and protection for children, indicating that based on this role, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education seeks fruitful and constructive cooperation with the Council. In order to improve the quality of the child’s life, and to have a proactive role in preparing programs that will enhance child protection efforts, and raise society’s awareness of their rights in light of the Egyptian state’s policy of building the Egyptian person.
Dr. Reda Hegazy indicated that investing in children is an investment in the future, as they represent the largest segment of society, through which several phenomena that are considered challenges facing the state can be confronted, such as child labor, dropouts from education, and population increase.
Dr. Reda Hegazy said: "The Ministry is always working on caring for young people, and instilling societal, human, educational and cultural values in our children. The Ministry is also developing the pre-university education system in Egypt to present a pioneering model in the region and provide fair opportunities for all children to obtain high-quality education." .
For her part, Dr. Nevine Othman, Secretary-General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, emphasized that the cooperation between the Council and the Ministry of Education and Technical Education is close and extended, as it is one of the partner ministries concerned with the enforcement of children’s rights in an important axis and one of the inherent rights of the child, which is his right to a good-quality education. Thanks to Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education, for his tireless efforts to develop and advance the education system in Egypt.
The Secretary-General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood pointed out that cooperation between the various parties concerned with children's rights is important and necessary to fully achieve the best interest of the child, explaining that cooperation between the Ministry and the Council extends through many educational and awareness programs to protect children from all harmful practices that affect them, such as dropping out. From education, in addition to the axis of digital intervention, protecting children from harmful digital content, mobile applications and electronic games, and raising awareness of the crimes they may be exposed to through their use of the Internet.
Dr. Nevin Othman expressed her happiness with this cooperation, which will result in the provision of a package of educational services for children throughout the Republic, stressing that attention to children's rights and investment in childhood is a fundamental pillar of the state's vision and this comes within the framework of implementing the national project for the development of the Egyptian family, which works on Improving demographic characteristics by achieving comprehensive human development and improving the quality of life of the Egyptian person.
