Today, Thursday, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, Major General Ahmed Rashid, Governor of Giza, and Dr. Nevin Othman, Secretary General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, witnessed the launch of the "National Initiative for the Empowerment of the Egyptian Child" with the participation of a number of civil society organizations, namely: "Takatof" and "" Ashoka, Masrawya and Taiba, in cooperation with UNICEF, at the Salah Salem Official Language School affiliated to the South Giza Educational Administration in Giza Governorate.

Dr. Reda Hegazy emphasized that this initiative comes to maximize the distinguished efforts of the Ministry of Education, which it has undertaken to address the phenomena of violence, bullying and wrong behaviors, by merging it with the efforts and initiatives of civil society organizations. To create a safe and supportive school environment for children, and to promote inclusion and acceptance of the other. The program also aims to build the capacities of faculty members and social workers in the field of promoting positive behaviors for children, educating parents in the field of positive education, and providing opportunities for Egyptian children to develop pioneering, leadership and innovation skills through "We are all social change makers" programs that aim to inculcate the values of belonging, concern for societal problems, teamwork and active participation for the development of the surrounding community.

Dr. Reda Hegazy emphasized the pivotal and important role of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood in providing aspects of support, care and protection for children, indicating that based on this role, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education seeks fruitful and constructive cooperation with the Council. In order to improve the quality of the child’s life, and to have a proactive role in preparing programs that will enhance child protection efforts, and raise society’s awareness of their rights in light of the Egyptian state’s policy of building the Egyptian person.

Dr. Reda Hegazy indicated that investing in children is an investment in the future, as they represent the largest segment of society, as the Ministry is always working to take care of young people, and to instill societal, human, educational and cultural values in our children. It is also developing the pre-university education system to provide a pioneering model in the region and provide fair opportunities for all children to obtain a high-quality education.

The minister emphasized that civil society organizations are an important partner in contributing with the Egyptian government in supporting the educational system to achieve the desired development.

For his part, Major General Ahmed Rashid, Governor of Giza, affirmed the great interest that many state institutions attach to children and young people, as they are the nucleus of the future, as Egypt is one of the first countries keen to support children's rights through the implementation of many educational and health initiatives to work to protect and care for children.

Major General Ahmed Rashid added that the initiative aims to build the capacities of faculty members, promote positive behaviors for children, and educate parents in the field of positive education to provide opportunities for Egyptian children to develop life skills, which witnessed the implementation of a number of workshops from 5/21/2023 to 2023/2020. 5/26 .

The Governor of Giza appreciated the fruitful cooperation existing between the governorate, the Ministry of Education, and the National Council for Motherhood and Childhood, with the aim of promoting positive behaviors for children and developing their skills, stressing that the governorate spares no effort in providing the necessary support for the initiative, and providing all capabilities for its success, and achieving the desired goals, pointing to the importance of achieving Sustainability of the initiative, to ensure targeting the largest possible number of target groups.

The Governor of Giza emphasized the role of the Directorate of Education in Giza in intensifying targeted student activities inside schools, especially during the summer period, to take advantage of students' leisure time and work on developing their mental and physical abilities.

For her part, Dr. Nevin Othman said: "The national initiative to empower the Egyptian child started in 4 governorates and aims to build strong personalities for children," noting that the national initiative to empower the Egyptian child comes within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood. And through the National Initiative for the Empowerment of Children (DOI), which is being implemented under the auspices of the First Lady, Mrs. Intisar Al-Sisi, wife of the President of the Republic.

The Secretary-General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood appreciated the fruitful and continuous cooperation between the Council and the Ministry of Education, thanking Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education for his tireless efforts and permanent support for children's issues in Egypt.

The Secretary-General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood stated that it had started implementing the program in partnership with civil society organizations and UNICEF Egypt, with the aim of spreading and promoting positive behaviors and practices among children and their families in educational institutions; To provide an integrated system for changing behaviors, acquiring life skills, developing values, and building strong and persevering personalities in the face of dangerous social phenomena that threaten the security and safety of the Egyptian child, as well as building a societal value system dominated by affection, respect, tolerance, and acceptance of the other to address the manifestations of violence, bullying, harassment, and physical and moral abuse, noting that The number of children in different stages of education is about 25 million students.

The Secretary-General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood said: "The activities of this program will be implemented as a pilot phase in four governorates, namely (Sohag - Giza - Alexandria - North Sinai), through the implementation of training workshops for extra-curricular activities specialists and social workers in education, as well as the implementation of camps For children of the age group (9-12) and (13-15) in the four targeted governorates, in addition to holding meetings for parents, in addition to implementing the "Children Social Change Makers" program, which includes the concept that citizens have rights and duties, noting He pointed out that the experiment is being documented to evaluate it and present its results in a workshop during the month of June.

During the visit, the minister, the governor of Giza, and the Secretary-General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood inspected a number of interactive activities in which the students participated, a workshop on making social change, digital learning, and storytelling circles, in addition to meeting generations.

The visit began with an inspection of the interactive theatre, through which the students discuss the phenomenon of bullying between children and adults, and the definition of Bullying Law No. (189) of 2020, which stipulates a set of penalties for those who practice bullying, large or small, as the Minister praised the theatrical performance of the students and discussed with them the extent of benefit From the “Developing Values and Promoting Positive Behaviors for Children” program, especially the children’s acquisition of positive behaviors to address the phenomenon of bullying and identify its negative effects, and search for solutions to confront it, and provide assistance to their colleagues who are subjected to bullying, in addition to the role of the school and the family in raising awareness about this phenomenon and dealing with it.

A group of interactive activities, which include games aimed at instilling a set of principles and values such as tolerance, acceptance of the other, respect and perseverance, were also inspected for children from 9 to 12 years old through a group of innovative games. In this regard, the Minister discussed with the students about benefiting from these games in acquiring these values.

The visit also included an inspection of the Girls Empowerment Initiative "Doi", whose activities are being implemented under the auspices of Mrs. Intisar Al-Sisi, the wife of the President of the Republic. The activities of the storytelling circles that work to identify innovatively the issues that children may suffer from, especially bullying, and to find innovative solutions, were inspected. Through discussion with students about it, and through a meeting of generations where mothers, fathers and children exchange roles to express their views on the issues raised and work on convergence of views between parents and children within the framework of the concept of positive education.

In this context, the minister spoke with students and parents about the return of the initiative, identifying problems and their roots, critical thinking, knowing the cause and effect of each problem to solve it, in addition to the role of interactive theater in promoting the concept of positive education, stressing that the ministry holds many seminars, training workshops and presentations. An interactive play to confront the phenomenon of bullying.

The digital learning activity was also inspected, through which students are taught safe access to the Internet and learn about the phenomenon of cyberbullying, and it allows them to obtain a training course in digitization through the “DOI” initiative on the Internet or through the “DOI” application on mobile phones. Through this activity a certificate of digital transformation.

During the visit, gifts were distributed to the students to encourage and encourage them to continue developing their talents.
