The Ministry of Education signs a cooperation protocol with the Sawiris Foundation for Development to establish an applied technology school for construction
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, witnessed today the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development to establish the Onsi Sawiris School for Applied Technology and Construction, in the city of Ain Sukhna.
The signing of the protocol was attended by Dr. Muhammad Mujahid, Deputy Minister of Education for Technical Education Affairs, Dr. Amr Busailah, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education, and Director of the Operation and Management Unit of Applied Technology Schools, and Dr. Sherine Hamdy, Supervisor of the Central Administration for the Affairs of the Office of the Minister of Education and Technical Education, Dr. Mohamed Mousa Emara, Head of the Central Administration for Technical Education Schools, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Rahman, President of Misr International Technological University, Eng. Nora Selim, Executive Director of the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, Eng. Osama Bishay, CEO of Orascom Construction, and Dr. Mona Ayoub, Director of Administration Vocational training in the German Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, began his speech by stressing the ministry's belief in the importance of investing in human capital, and creating a generation of technical workers capable of keeping pace with the scientific and technological progress the world is facing, and the successive changes that the world is witnessing and their reflection on the requirements of the labor market.
The minister also stressed the importance of developing the technical education and vocational training sector, and its role in building the Egyptian industry, in line with the directives of the political leadership to pay attention to developing all aspects of the technical education system, in accordance with international quality standards, and in a manner commensurate with the needs of the labor market, by developing Schools of technical education, and the inclusion and application of new specializations in conjunction with the development of technical specializations currently applied according to the system of competencies; This is to create a new generation of trained and qualified technical workers to join the labor market upon their graduation.
The minister continued, explaining that the provision of trained technical workers is a major factor in attracting both foreign and local investments, and encouraging the establishment of major projects, and this will positively affect reducing the unemployment rate and strengthening the Egyptian industry and economy.
With regard to schools of applied technology, Dr. Reda Hegazy indicated that the schools of applied technology were able, within 5 years of their establishment, to be a beacon for the development of technical education, and by signing this protocol, the number of schools reached 48 schools of applied technology, in partnership with more than 40 industrial partners in various industrial fields. , agricultural, hotel, and commercial schools, and the ministry seeks to expand these schools.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Megahed, Deputy Minister of Education for Technical Education Affairs, said that Onsi Sawiris School of Applied Technology and Construction is the first international internal applied technology school in Egypt in the field of construction, and the number of years of study in the school is 3 years, during which students are taught the theoretical side of Through cultural and artistic materials in the field of specialization and the practical aspect through training in Orascom Construction Company.
Mujahid emphasized that the school aims to create highly trained technical cadres in the fields of finishing, within an efficient institutional framework based on international standards in training technical cadres, and supports Egypt's vision 2030, with regard to developing and improving the quality of technical education and its outputs and fully qualifying students to join the market. work upon their graduation, and the school aims to develop practical disciplines in the field of construction; This will help attract young people towards studying these modern technological disciplines. Therefore, a German company with international experience in the field of technical education, especially in the field of construction, was selected as an international partner for the school responsible for developing the technical curriculum.
In a related context, Dr. Amr Basila, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education, and Director of the Applied Technology Schools Operation and Management Unit, said that the school is planned to be built in the economic zone of Ain Sukhna, Suez Governorate, provided that the actual study begins in the school during the academic year 2024/2024. 2025, and Orascom Construction will undertake the construction process, practical training for students, and the appointment of distinguished students upon their graduation, so the school site was chosen to be close to Orascom's work sites in the New Administrative Capital, which will include training sites for school students.
For her part, Engineer Noura Selim, Executive Director of the Sawiris Foundation, said in her speech: “Over the past twenty years, the Sawiris Foundation has achieved many great achievements and had a strong footprint in the field of developing and supporting technical and vocational education, by providing educational opportunities Today, as a continuation of the Sawiris Foundation’s march in developing and improving the quality of technical education and its outputs, we are proud to announce the signing of a new partnership contract to establish the Onsi Sawiris School. for Applied Technology and Construction "with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, which is our latest addition in this field."
She added that the idea of establishing this technical school goes back to the Sawiris family's desire to celebrate the great march of the late engineer Onsi Sawiris, as a pioneer in the field of construction, and a true supporter of education in Egypt, especially technical and vocational education, as he provided many scholarships to support outstanding students to join the Don Institute. Bosco, as well as many initiatives to support and develop technical schools, and today we are honored in his name, and in partnership with the Ministry of Education, to present to the Egyptian community this school based on internationally approved educational methods, based on practical training and innovation, and we hope to contribute through it to the creation of a new generation of Trained technical cadres, and a change in society's view of technical education, which is one of the main pillars in the renaissance of the economy of countries.
