Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met with Mr. Adrian Fenton, Senior Schools Advisor in the United Kingdom, to discuss ways to benefit from British education system mechanisms in supporting efforts to advance the education system in Egypt.

This was attended by Mark Howard, Director of the British Council in Egypt, and Dr. Hanem Ahmed, Advisor to the Minister of Education for International Relations.

The Minister reviewed the education system in Egypt and the efforts made to become a globally competitive system, noting that the Egyptian Ministry of Education is making great efforts to advance the education system from all aspects in light of the close participation of all parties concerned with the educational process, which contributed during the past period to overcoming many of the challenges facing the system.

The Minister praised the British education system, which provides students with more than one opportunity, pointing out that there are similarities between this system and the proposed Egyptian Baccalaureate system that the Ministry recently put forward for community dialogue in Egypt, which aims to provide a similar opportunity for public school students so that their future is not decided by a single test and to instill a spirit of flexibility in choosing the appropriate path for the student's abilities and skills.

For his part, Mr. Adrian Fenton expressed his appreciation and pride in the Minister's visit to the British Council, appreciating the bright steps in developing education in Egypt, stressing his country's determination to continue providing all means of support to the educational process in Egypt.

The meeting included a review of the British education system and all the requirements for a distinguished academic and professional life, how to apply international educational standards and modern scientific developments, studying the similarities and differences between the education system in Egypt and Britain, and how to benefit from international experiences. The meeting also discussed the division of pre-university education in the United Kingdom.
