On the sidelines of the second day of the “Human Capabilities Initiative” conference: The Minister of Education meets with the Minister of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met today with Mrs. Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar, to discuss files of joint cooperation and ways to enhance cooperation in the field of developing pre-university education.
This came on the sidelines of the activities of the second day of the “Human Capacity Initiative” conference, held at the King Abdulaziz International Convention Center in Riyadh, under the patronage of His Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Human Capacity Development Program Committee.
During the meeting, Dr. Reda Hegazy stressed that the Ministry’s strategy for developing technical education is based on five basic axes, the first of which is improving quality, through establishing an independent body to ensure quality and accreditation in the fields of technical education (Itqan), adopting curricula based on the competency methodology, and improving skills. Teachers, through the establishment of an academy to train technical education teachers, in addition to the participation of business owners in developing technical education, and changing the stereotyped image of technical education.
Dr. Reda Hegazy added that the Ministry seeks to increase the number of applied technology schools in various governorates, which contributes to improving the quality of the outputs and levels of technical and vocational skills for technical education students and graduating students capable of competing and joining the local and international labor market in various fields and specializations, which contributes to advancing Economic development in Egypt, implementing major national projects, and achieving Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The Minister explained that in light of the state’s interest in the gifted and creative because they make a difference in the future, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education emphasizes achieving the principle of transparency and equal opportunities as a criterion for the enrollment of third-year middle school students in schools for outstanding students in science and technology (STEM), and in order to develop the mechanisms of the admission system to schools for outstanding students. In science and technology (STEM), in order to achieve fairness and transparency, the National Center for Educational Examinations and Evaluation has been tasked with preparing more than one model for entrance tests in partnership with subject matter advisors.
The Minister of Education pointed out that the Ministry seeks to expand schools for outstanding students in science and technology (STEM), which include education based on supporting higher-order thinking skills and scientific research, especially in the fields of science, mathematics, and technology, where students implement (capstone) projects in each semester, which It aims to address the challenges facing Egyptian society.
The Minister stressed that STEM schools are a bright spot in the Egyptian education system, and provide a model worthy of emulation in all schools in the Republic. The students of these schools have achieved advanced positions and won prizes in the international competitions in which they participated during the past years.
The Minister continued by reviewing the Ministry’s efforts in developing teachers’ capabilities, noting that the Ministry is keen to ensure the quality of the professional development system for teachers and its development, through the Professional Academy for Teachers. To empower members of the Egyptian Education Authority and raise their level of professional performance by applying advanced strategies and mechanisms in light of the results of recent research, through qualified cadres, and an effective partnership with the faculties of education and relevant institutions to achieve excellence in the outcomes of the educational process.
The Minister added that the Ministry of Education and Technical Education was keen to raise the levels of teaching performance for teachers and gave special importance to them by providing them with distinguished professional development opportunities to build an administratively capable leadership personality capable of facing the challenges of the times, which was translated by the new vision of the educational system in Egypt through the development of a group Of the training programs and packages that are in line with the latest global trends; To keep pace with cognitive and technological development and achieve the quality of the educational process.
The Minister added that the Ministry is in the process of launching the “Teacher Standards Document for Tomorrow,” which includes teachers, mentors, and administrations, which emphasizes that the teacher possesses new skills that qualify him to explain scientific material and communicate with students. In order for the educational process to produce learning outcomes capable of facing all difficulties.
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, stressed that the Egyptian state now has a mechanism for selecting new teachers based on selecting the most qualified, because teachers are the ones who will bring about movement, change and development.
The Minister also touched on the presidential initiative to appoint “1,000 school principals,” which aims to select school principals from competent and distinguished young teachers. The first batch of the initiative was trained in a 6-month scholarship, and those who passed this program were granted a diploma in educational leadership and national security in cooperation. With universities, they have already taken over their work in managing a number of schools at the republic level, stressing the ministry’s endeavor to make the graduates of the presidential initiative the nucleus of bringing about the desired development in school management, and creating a qualitative shift in various schools in Egypt. The ministry also directed to maximize the benefit from them and work to follow them up and overcome Any difficulties they may encounter.
For her part, Mrs. Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education and Higher Education in the State of Qatar, praised the efforts of the Egyptian Ministry of Education in improving the performance of the educational system in Egypt, stressing its keenness to enhance cooperation and exchange experiences in this context.
From the Egyptian side, Counselor Ashraf Al-Azzazi, Egyptian Cultural Advisor to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, attended the meeting.
