The Minister of Education holds a preparatory meeting with the head of the Teachers Syndicate and a number of the ministry’s leaders
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, held a preparatory meeting with Professor Khalaf El-Zanati, Head of the Teachers Syndicate and President of the Arab Teachers Union, a number of the Ministry’s leaders, and a representative of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This is to review all procedures related to launching the teacher standards document; In cooperation with the General Syndicate of Educational Professions and the United States Agency for International Development.
Dr. Reda Hegazy stressed that the Ministry always seeks to improve teachers’ performance and develop their skills in accordance with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the strategic plan for educational development 2024/2029.
The Minister explained that the Ministry is in the process of launching a standards document for teachers that is compatible with the new education system and modern developments, and fulfills the requirements of tomorrow’s teacher through the Education for Tomorrow project, in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), stressing that the teacher is a partner in building this document, so The Educational Professions Syndicate is a key partner with the Ministry.
The Minister indicated that in light of these standards, a set of training packages for teachers will be implemented, as the experimental application of these standards will take place through training 1,024 trainees, in three governorates, namely Beni Suef, Damietta, and Dakahlia, and they, in turn, will train more than 43,000 teachers. Stressing that these training packages will be approved after the pilot phase and launched nationwide.
During the meeting, the Minister directed the formation of a committee of a number of the ministry’s leaders, the General Syndicate of Educational Professions, and a representative of the United States Agency for International Development, to develop frameworks, axes, and implementation mechanisms.
The meeting also touched on discussing procedures related to launching a community dialogue with teachers about the new standards document, and listening to their opinions and suggestions and taking them into consideration.
