The Minister of Education honors school students who excel in science and technology STEM winners in preparing climate change projects in cooperation with Siemens Egypt
Today, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, witnessed a ceremony to honor outstanding students in STEM schools, winners in preparing climate change projects, and who participated in the Innovation 4 Sustainability camp, organized by Siemens Egypt, under Sponsorship and support of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education; With the aim of enabling students to solve problems related to waste management in the industrial sector, especially the electronics manufacturing sector.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Ahmed Daher, Deputy Minister for Technological Development, Dr. Amr El-Damarisi, Coordinator of Student Education Institutions in the General Administration of STEM Schools for Excellence in the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, and a number of Siemens Egypt officials and school principals who excel in science and technology STEM winners.
In his speech, Dr. Reda Hegazy expressed his happiness to participate in this celebration, stressing his keenness to be present at this honorable ceremony, given the great importance of this day and this ceremony.
The minister said: "The day to honor the outstanding among our children is a great event, and caring for the outstanding, creative and talented of our students is a national duty on which the state focuses, with the great support and attention of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Republic."
The minister pointed out that today, excellence has become the highest and most important competitive advantage among nations, as we are in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which is not concerned with mere knowledge, but rather depends on preparing learners who are capable of creativity and innovation, in a world that is developing day after day, adding that given the The ruling fields in our time, we find that the newly developed disciplines such as microelectronics, robotics, mechatronics, genetic map, and high-speed communications, all require a type of learners capable of creativity and innovation within a distinguished educational system, as the extent of the strength of any country and its standard of excellence is no longer It is measured by what it possesses of natural resources, manpower, and liquid funds, not even by what it possesses of scientific secrets and knowledge. Rather, the whole world has turned into what is called “learning economics” where the strength of nations is measured by the extent of their children’s ability to employ and adapt science and knowledge, and invent optimal solutions. The minister added, "Creative students are our real wealth, the real power that Egypt possesses, and the competitive advantage that Egypt can gain in international competition."
Dr. Reda Hegazy added that the interest in such a camp that focuses on creativity and technology supports the digital transformation strategy pursued by the state, which aims to provide more accessible services to citizens, in light of the tremendous scientific and technological progress around the world, and in this context, the Ministry seeks to strengthen Digital transformation in the field of education, working to discover talented and talented people, and providing them with skills that achieve self-development, while taking care of them educationally, culturally, and socially; So that they can develop their talents and reach the highest levels of excellence and creativity.
The Minister told the winning students: "You must do your best to preserve the great results you have achieved, and benefit from them in a way that achieves the good of our dear Egypt, and advances it. Egypt deserves a lot from us, and through you we look forward to a brighter future for our beloved country."
At the conclusion of his speech, Dr. Reda Hegazy thanked and appreciated all those who contributed their efforts in organizing this wonderful camp, and the students participating in this important event.

The CEO of Siemens Egypt indicated that the training camp lasted for 9 days, during which Siemens Egypt hosted 33 students from 15 schools of excellence in science and technology STEM, who participated in a series of practical technical workshops specialized in various digital fields such as the Internet of Things, and intelligence Artificial, virtual and augmented reality, and 3D printing, in addition to a number of non-technical workshops in the field of business modeling. The students participating in the workshops were also introduced to the applications of Design Thinking, by adopting an agile and effective approach to The duration of the camp.

The Minister inspected the exhibition of projects of students from schools of excellence in science and technology STEM, and discussed with them the projects they prepared, and praised the applied solutions they provide to meet the challenges facing the country.
Dr. Reda Hegazy honored the winning student teams, where the Eco View team won the first place, which includes student Ammar Yasser from STEM School for Excellence in Science and Technology in Qalyubia, student Rawan Omeish from STEM School for Excellence in Science and Technology in Maadi, and student Kyrillos Abdel Massih from School of Excellence in Science and Technology and STEM technology in Minya, and Doaa Ayman from the STEM School for Excellence in Science and Technology in Menoufia. The Phoenix team won second place and includes the student Kyrillos Nakhnoukh from the STEM School for Excellence in Science and Technology in Ismailia, the student Fatma El-Sayed from the STEM School for Excellence in Science and Technology in Dakahlia, and the student Mazen Ragab from The STEM School of Excellence in 6th of October, and Alaa Salama from the STEM School of Excellence in Assiut, while the third place was won by the Spartans team, which includes Ahmed Wael from the STEM School for Excellence in Science and Technology in Kafr El-Sheikh, and the student Shorouk El-Sheikh from the School of Excellence in Science and STEM technology in Dakahlia, and the student Mahmoud Adel from the School of Excellence in Science and Technology STEM technology in Ismailia, and student Arwa Abdel Ghani from the STEM School for Excellence in Science and Technology in Assiut.
The supervising teachers in the camp were also honored: Muhammad Abdel Tawab, Muhammad Bakhit, Rania Ali, Abeer Mustafa, and Muhammad Al-Aishi, Administrative Director and Deputy Director of the Union Air Factory, and among the members of the jury, Dr. Hisham Issa, member of the Union of Arab Environmental Experts and the point of contact, was honored. Former National Committee on Climate Change, Vice President of the Arab Council for Green Economy and co-founder of De Carbon Egypt, Dr. Nizar Sami, Innovation and Technology Management Consultant, and Inclusive Growth Officer for the United Nations Development Program in Egypt.
It is worth noting that during the camp, the students competed to design and build a prototype for an innovative solution that reduces industrial waste during manufacturing processes. The training camp also included the students' visit to the actual production lines of the electronics sector; To know how industrial waste is formed in this sector.
A specialized jury comprising a group of professional experts and distinguished personalities from major educational and environmental institutions in Egypt, evaluated the innovative solutions devised and designed by the students, and selected the winning teams whose prototypes will be displayed during the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) scheduled to be held in Sharm Sheikh this November.
