In his speech, Dr. Muhammad Mujahid expressed his happiness for his participation today in this important event; To discuss the implementation of the project to support renewable energy and energy efficiency with technical education to advance technical education and vocational training and promote sustainable energy, which is held within the framework of the financing agreement signed in March of this year, between the Egyptian government represented by the Central Bank, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, the German government and the Federation The European Union through the German Development Bank KFW, and in coordination with the Ministry of International Cooperation.
The Deputy Minister saluted all partners for the continuous support of the ministry's efforts to transform technical education through the Technical Education 2.0 strategy, stressing that the German government is a supportive partner in the reform of technical education.
The Deputy Minister indicated that a new sectoral concept represented in the Centers of Competence, which act as beacons in priority sectors, has been presented. Work has begun on this concept with the German Development Bank KFW and the European Union in the renewable energy sector, noting that by 2030 There will be 27 sectoral centers of excellence, which are schools concerned with future professions, including a center of excellence in the field of new and renewable energy, adding that renewable energy curricula have been developed, and students will be educated and trained on green oxygen, as new professions in the technical education development system, stressing Egypt is rich in natural resources, especially wind and solar energy, which qualifies it to be one of the largest producers of renewable energy.
Dr. Muhammad Mujahid explained that cooperation is taking place with the private sector to provide the required manpower with international standards, and the curricula have been developed and reviewed by representatives of the labor market, stressing the need to ensure the credibility of this system and the student's mastery of skills and competencies, noting that the student obtains two certificates, a diploma And a certificate listing the professional competencies that he mastered during his studies.
For her part, Sandra Rolder, Head of Finance, Education and Governance at the German Construction Bank, thanked Dr. Mohamed Mujahid and the Ministry of Education and Technical Education for the effort made to develop technical education in Egypt, stressing that the workshop held today is a real opportunity to discuss the details of the project and work on its success within the framework of cooperation. joint.
Lara Prasad, director of the Quesp project at the German Development Bank, expressed her happiness at the holding of this important workshop, noting that serious steps have been achieved in the project, including visiting a number of schools; To determine the schools in which the renewable energy project will be implemented, hoping that everyone will participate in the discussions about the preparatory phase of the project and the current status of the centers of excellence and technical schools that have been selected.
Ahlam Farouk, Director of the Education Program of the European Union, pointed to cooperation with the Ministry of Education, especially the technical education sector, with the aim of supporting the Ministry of Education's strategy to develop technical education 2.0, which revolves around improving the quality of technical education, transforming curricula into curricula based on the merits methodology, digitizing educational content, and improving Teachers’ skills through training and qualification, the participation of business owners in developing technical education, and changing the stereotype of technical education.
The activities of the workshop included two discussion sessions. The first workshop discussed a number of important topics related to the program to support renewable energy and energy efficiency in technical education, including the first component of the preparatory phase and the current status of centers of excellence, their planning, their location and the necessary construction, as well as capacity building for renewable energy and energy efficiency. The workshop also discussed the second component related to the preparatory phase and the current status of technical schools, the position of rehabilitating the selected technical schools, their location and rehabilitation procedures, in addition to capacity building for renewable energy/energy efficiency, the concept of maintenance and renewable energy agreements.
The TEREEEE Support Program for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency comes within the agreement to enhance the current German financial cooperation project to establish centers of sectoral excellence in the new and renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors, as well as modernize many technical education schools.
The Sectoral Centers of Excellence aim to develop one of the technical education schools into a model school with advanced and modern infrastructure, devices and equipment, and thus this school can act as a light house capable of radiating development and modernization to other technical schools of the same quality located in the geographical areas adjacent to the Center Sectoral excellence, as the private sector participates in managing these sectoral centers and employing their graduates, especially small and medium-sized companies.
Among the main activities of the project are "establishing three sectoral centers of excellence in three governorates, Aswan, Minya and Sharqia, rehabilitating and equipping 20 technical education schools with solar panels as well as energy efficiency technologies, and establishing a branch of the Technical Education Teachers Academy within each sectoral center of excellence that is established. Encouraging the integration of girls into technical education and in the new and renewable energy sector.
