Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met, on the sidelines of his participation in the activities of the World Education Forum 2024 in London, with Mr. Charles Clarke, former Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom and Advisor to the Cambridge Authority. To discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of pre-university education.

This came in the presence of Mr. Keenan Prout, Director of Global Strategies at Cambridge and responsible for international education reform activities at the Authority, Ms. Sumi Saha, responsible for education reform in the Middle East and North Africa, and Dr. Sherine Hamdi, Advisor to the Minister for International Relations and Agreements and Supervisor of the Central Administration for the Affairs of the Minister’s Office.

During the meeting, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education, stressed the importance of joint cooperation between the Egyptian Ministry of Education and the Cambridge International Authority, and always striving to strengthen and consolidate the relationship and renew agreements between the two sides.

Dr. Reda Hegazy said that the Cambridge International Authority is one of the important bodies that the Ministry of Education and Technical Education cooperates with and that it has a long history of working in Egypt and will continue in the future, noting that Egypt includes many schools that operate according to the British system, and Cambridge offers curricula and examination systems in this manner. Schools as well as granting certificates to our IGCSE students.

Dr. Reda Hegazy pointed out that international public schools are sponsored by the political leadership. To provide a distinguished educational service, the number of these schools now reaches 26, and there is a great demand for these schools, so the Ministry aims to expand the number of these schools during the next stage. Dr. Reda Hegazy explained that International Public Schools (IPS) offer an international educational model based on curricula designed in accordance with the latest international systems, as these schools support (the British system - the International Baccalaureate).

The Minister added that studies in these schools have reached the sixth grade of primary school, so the Ministry is looking forward, in cooperation with Cambridge, to conduct an evaluation of the students of these schools, as well as twinning between these schools and some British schools.

During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the Ministry’s plan to develop curricula, as the Minister explained that the process of developing education continues, and that the development of the primary stage curricula has been completed, and the development of the preparatory stage curricula has been completed, indicating that to complement the new curricula, the move will be made to develop the secondary stage curricula after Conducting a community dialogue with the participation of all parties concerned with development, adding that curriculum development is based on major concepts and learning outcomes that enable students to build knowledge and develop self and personality.

The Minister said that the Ministry of Education and Technical Education seeks to enhance cooperation with the Cambridge International Examinations Authority by renewing the agreement every year to provide the best educational service to our students that keeps pace with all global developments, technologically and educationally.

For his part, Mr. Charles Clark expressed his happiness with this meeting, noting the importance of the topics covered by the meeting, stressing the importance of establishing a channel of communication and dialogue between the two sides to complete discussions in the future.

During the meeting, ways of cooperation between the Ministry and Cambridge International were discussed, and curriculum reform initiatives were discussed, including mathematics, science, and the English language for the secondary stage, as well as completing and strengthening cooperation between the Ministry and the Cambridge International Authority through the partnership agreement between the Education Development Fund and the International Examinations Authority at the University of Cambridge to obtain An international Egyptian certificate with global standards recognized in all universities in the world. The International Examinations Authority at the British University of Cambridge provides technical support to the Egyptian team, which is represented in designing and preparing school curricula, designing and preparing teaching guides that contain learning outcomes, preparing appropriate educational resources, preparing training packages, professional development, and professional development. The meeting also emphasized the continued cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the Cambridge International Examinations Authority in developing curricula, permanent development of training packages, and raising the level of leadership of the Nile System, as well as cooperation in marketing the Nile International Educational System internally and externally to make it an international educational system competitive with all other international certificates granted. At the conclusion of the meeting, it was emphasized to discuss ways to achieve cooperation so that Cambridge International becomes a strategic partner for the Egyptian government in developing the education system, and to discuss aspects of cooperation in supporting international public schools.
