The Minister of Education discusses with the international consultant Antonio Vigilante aspects of cooperation within the framework of the presidential initiative "A Dignified Life"
Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received yesterday evening Antonio Vigilante, the international consultant, and Elena Panova, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt; To discuss joint cooperation frameworks in implementing the Presidential Initiative for the Integrated Development of the Egyptian Rural "A Dignified Life".
During the meeting, Dr. Tarek Shawky praised the role played by the United Nations in supporting the Egyptian educational sector, noting that the Ministry of Education is working to integrate the principle of education for sustainable development in all types of pre-university education, whether formal school education, or non-formal education. community education".
Tariq Shawky said that, in implementation of the President’s directives regarding strengthening social protection measures through the implementation of presidential initiatives, especially the “Dignified Life” initiative, which aims to support the neediest and most cared groups, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education aims to develop education in Egyptian rural villages, where it is estimated The number of projects listed in the initiative in terms of construction is (1113) projects to provide (15000) classrooms. As for the number of development and efficiency-raising projects, it is estimated at (1293) projects, representing about 25% of the existing schools; To reduce classroom density rates, end the problems of multiple study periods, serve areas deprived of educational services, increase the rate of kindergarten absorption, and replace invalid schools.
The Minister of Education added that the implementation of the ministry's plan is continuously monitored within the efforts of "a decent life", including the follow-up to the implementation of the second component of the agreement with Japan, with the number of 100 public schools in decent life schools, and the application of the expanded package of basic tokatsu activities, as the essence of Japanese education lies In the integrated personality of the child, which is also consistent with the goal of the new educational program 2.0, as well as building smart classrooms nationwide as part of the shift towards achieving digital learning and improving skills-based learning, in addition to pursuing targeted remedial programs for underachieving students and dropouts. eradicate adult illiteracy, pay attention to various activities, and work to raise environmental awareness in these villages.
For his part, Antonio Vigilante expressed his happiness with this meeting, noting that the partnership between the United Nations and the Egyptian government is strong and solid, praising Dr. Tarek Shawky's efforts in developing education, and the "Decent Life" initiative, which presents a prominent opportunity to achieve the sustainable development agenda at the local level. and reach the most needy groups.
