The Minister of Education discusses with the Italian Ambassador in Cairo the files of joint cooperation to develop education)

Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received Michael Caron, the Italian ambassador in Cairo and his accompanying delegation, to discuss strengthening joint efforts in the field of developing pre-university education, and benefiting from Italian experiences in developing technical education and achieving sustainable development.
Dr. Tarek Shawky said that Egypt and Italy have a long history of strategic relations, stressing keenness on fruitful cooperation and continuous coordination with the Italian side in the field of education development.
The Minister of Education expressed his appreciation for the Italian side's confidence in the Applied Technology Schools project, because of its effective role in achieving economic development by qualifying trained technical workers and qualifying young people for the labor market.
For his part, the Italian ambassador in Cairo expressed his happiness with this meeting, praising the joint projects that have been accomplished between the two sides, stressing his country's keenness to strengthen ties with Egypt and support the Egyptian government, as it is one of the most important partners in the Middle East.
The Italian ambassador stressed his keen interest in spreading the Italian language, which greatly contributes to spreading the culture of the two countries.
The meeting discussed increasing aspects of cooperation between the two sides through the expansion of the applied technology schools project, teacher training, and promoting the teaching of Italian as a second language in Egyptian schools, as well as studying the possibility of establishing Egyptian-Italian schools, and translating the new curricula within the new education system into Italian.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Megahed, Deputy Minister of Education for Technical Education Affairs, Dr. Amr Basileh, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education and Director of the Operation and Management Unit for Applied Technology Schools, Dr. Sherine Hamdy, Advisor to the Minister for Administrative Development and Supervisor of the Central Administration for the Affairs of the Minister’s Office, and Dr. Hanim Ahmed, Adviser to the Minister for International Cooperation, Martino Melli, Director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, and Davide Scalmani, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute.
