The Minister of Education meets the Ambassador of Finland in Cairo to discuss ways of cooperation in the field of developing public and technical education
Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received today Ambassador Pekka Kosonen, the new Ambassador of Finland to the Arab Republic of Egypt, and his accompanying delegation; To discuss topics of joint cooperation between Egypt and Finland in the field of developing general education and technical education.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Tarek Shawky congratulated the Ambassador of Finland on his new position, stressing that Egypt is looking forward to more cooperation with Finland, and to benefit from its experiences in the field of developing public and technical education, developing human cadres in the field of technical education, and digital transformation.
The Minister stressed that the vision of developing technical education 2.0 is based on raising the quality of technical education, developing curricula, providing qualified teachers and trainers, engaging the private sector in the technical education system, in addition to improving the mental image of technical education, and presenting a distinguished international model that achieves the requirements of sustainable development and is in line with the vision of Egypt 2030.
Dr. Tarek Shawky indicated that the ministry is working on concerted efforts and continuous coordination with development partners; To reform technical education, and attract more students, by linking technical education with the Egyptian, Arab and international labor market, and creating new disciplines such as artificial intelligence, jewelry making, programming and port work, in order to meet the needs of the labor market.
For his part, the Finnish ambassador expressed his happiness with this meeting, praising the effective role played by Egypt in Africa and the region, as well as the structural reform and development witnessed by the Egyptian education system, and the achievements made in a short time, which indicates the political will and interest in developing education systems.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed preparing a memorandum of understanding to benefit from the experiences of the Finnish government in developing public education, ensuring quality and accreditation in technical education and training, and using graduates of technical education to work in Finnish companies.
The Finnish ambassador invited the Minister of Education and Technical Education to visit Finland to enhance cooperation between the two countries in related fields.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Megahed, Deputy Minister of Technical Education, Dr. Amr Basila, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education and Director of the Operation and Management Unit for Applied Technology Schools. On the Finnish side, Mr. Kimo Laksonen, a commercial expert, Noha Salem, Media Adviser, and Yasser Shawky, Commercial Adviser at the Finnish Embassy, attended the meeting.
