Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, concluded his participation in the activities of the Rewired Summit for Education, which was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Dr. Tarek Shawky expressed his happiness for his participation in this summit, which brings together all education leaders around the world from all international institutions, and includes pre-university education, higher education and scientific research.
The minister explained that during this conference several issues were discussed, and 5 very important seminars were participated in, the first of which was with the World Bank, and all international bodies to discuss the educational gap caused by the Corona pandemic, and how it is dealt with around the world for children and gradual ages, due to the irregularity of the process. education and the need for data that enable us to measure this educational gap.
He pointed out that Egypt had a large presence in this symposium because it was classified as a country that dealt with this issue better than many countries, adding that there was another symposium organized by the Emirati Ataa Foundation and it was discussing education issues of concern to all Arab and African countries and all countries of the world in the presence of the UAE Minister of Education The President of the Ataa Foundation and representatives of UNESCO and UNICEF to discuss these issues and how countries and institutions deal with them.
He continued, "The third session was led by UNICEF, which is a major international organization specializing in childhood issues and pre-university education and an essential partner for Egypt in the new education system, in which they talked about the Egyptian experience and how Egypt dealt with building a new educational system in the midst of the Corona pandemic, and there was a discussion Big on the lessons learned, and how to continue this journey.”
The minister stressed that the most important event on the first day of the conference is the launch of the Global Knowledge Index, which is the cooperation between the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation and UNDP, the United Nations Development Corporation, in addition to many international bodies. In recent years, several classifications fall within this classification, including pre-university education, technical education, higher education, competitiveness, and the economic situation.
He explained that Egypt’s ranking in the Global Knowledge Index for the year 2021 came in 73rd place, jumping 11 places compared to 2020 (83rd place), and Egypt’s ranking in technical and technical education ranked 68th, jumping 12 places compared to 2020 (80th place), and these are leaps During the past 4 years, during which Egypt has been developing education, we are moving with an upward curve in this indicator, which motivates us to do more work to progress further in this indicator.
The Minister concluded his speech, saying: “In the field of education as a whole, we are progressing well and positively despite the presence of many challenges, as we try hard to confront them and solve problems,” noting that there are many things that make us proud and to be happy with what has been achieved and to make more effort.
