Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received Dr. Nevin Othman, Secretary-General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, to enhance means of cooperation and discuss joint work mechanisms with regard to programs to protect children and support their rights, within the framework of the national initiative "Empowering the Egyptian Child".
Dr. Reda Hegazy emphasized the important role of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood in providing aspects of support, care and protection for children, indicating that based on this role, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education seeks fruitful and constructive cooperation with the Council. In order to improve the child's quality of life.
The minister said: “The Ministry of Education and Technical Education plays a major role in developing the skills of the Egyptian child to enable him to contribute effectively to building his society and his country,” praising the partnership between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood within the framework of implementing the national initiative “Empowering the Egyptian Child.” Which took place in the city of El Alamein in Matrouh Governorate, which began last May through the implementation of training workshops for teachers of extra-curricular activities and social workers in the Ministry, with the aim of consolidating knowledge and skills about behavioral problems and how to deal with them and promoting positive behaviors for children in its first stage, and included the governorates of North Sinai, Sohag and Alexandria and Giza.
Dr. Reda Hegazy confirmed that this partnership will extend to all governorates, as the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood will work to prepare competencies and train trainers for their assistance at the level of all the Ministry's schools, so that the impact of this partnership extends to all Egyptian children, in all centers, villages and hamlets.
The Minister of Education indicated that this joint cooperation comes to ensure sustainability in building the capacities of social workers in the field of promoting positive behaviors for children, and building cadres of volunteers from university students in the field of promoting positive behaviors for children, and enabling children to practice positive behaviors towards themselves, their peers and society through around them, in addition to improving and educating parents in the field of positive education to support positive behaviors for children, as well as building capacities and providing opportunities for Egyptian children to develop entrepreneurial skills, leadership and innovation.
For her part, Dr. Nevine Othman, Secretary-General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, emphasized that the cooperation between the Council and the Ministry of Education and Technical Education is close and extended, as it is one of the partner ministries concerned with the enforcement of children’s rights in an important axis and one of the inherent rights of the child, which is his right to a good-quality education. She thanked Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education for his efforts to develop and advance the education system in Egypt, pointing to the movement that took place in Marsa Matrouh Governorate and the border governorates.
Dr. "Neven Othman" indicated that the implementation of the initiative to empower the child has been completed in various parts of Egypt, which began in North Sinai Governorate, and to complete this initiative, it is targeted to implement it in the governorates of Sinai and Ismailia, by preparing an implementation plan for positive education and capacity building, as well as providing Training bags and organizing training courses on positive education.
During the meeting, it was agreed to prepare a plan for positive education and capacity building for social workers and psychologists, prepare competencies and train trainers through a work team from the Ministry and the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, include training packages and approve them from the training authority, and prepare a draft memorandum of cooperation between the two sides in this regard.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Iman Hassan, Head of the Central Administration for Student Activities, Dr. Akram Hassan, Head of the Central Administration for Curriculum Development, Randa Halawa, Head of the Central Administration for Combating Educational Dropout and Adult Education, Dr. Shereen Hamdy, Advisor to the Minister for Administrative Development and Supervisor of the Central Administration for the Affairs of the Minister’s Office, and Dr. Rabab Zaidan Director General of the General Administration for Educational Leadership Affairs.
