The Ministry of Education launches the "National Program for Developing Reading and Writing Skills)

The Ministry of Education and Technical Education launched the "National Program for Developing Reading and Writing Skills for Students in the First Grades" through a workshop organized in cooperation with UNICEF, under the auspices of Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education.

The workshop reviewed successful experiences in developing reading skills for primary school students in Egypt and other countries, then presented a field survey of reading skills among fourth grade primary school students, and presented the basic skills for grades three to six primary school as well as the division of activities.

It is worth noting that the project is being implemented through 1,000 schools as a first phase in ten governorates, where 20,000 teachers are being trained on this program, which is being implemented in the months of March, April and May as a first phase, and teachers who will implement the program will be supported, in addition to implementing support centers to develop reading and writing skills.

The program is supervised by Dr. Hala Abdel Salam, Head of the Central Administration for General Education. The workshop was attended by Dr. Ramadan Mohamed Ramadan, Assistant Minister for Educational Evaluation and Supervisor of the National Examinations Center, Ms. Nadia Abdullah, Head of the Central Administration for Teachers’ Affairs, Dr. Hassib Mohamed, Professor at the National Examinations Center, Dr. Hassan Gawish, Director General of Promotion at the Professional Academy for Teachers, Dr. Reham Ahmed, Director General of Educational Leadership, Ms. Sahar Al-Alfy, Director General of Special Education, Mr. Walid Abdullah, Director General of Primary Education, and Ms. Mushira Abdel Raouf, Director General of Strategic Planning at the Ministry, in addition to the participation of many Arabic language teachers and first grade supervisors from the governorates of Port Said, Matrouh, Cairo and Giza.
